I don't consider brushing my teeth a "chore" but apparently my kids do. I knew it would be a long summer of me telling my kids brush your teeth, clean you room, water your flower, make your bed (everyday in fact!) So once again...trying to make MY life easier...the kids like them too....so all in all a very successful project!
I went to the thrift store and found some clipboards for 50 cents a piece...and i had that magnetic paint leftover from my menu boards (bought at home depot!) (I have found so many uses for this paint! love it!) I painted the clipboards
and I let the kids pick out their own scrapbook paper and hot glued it on
I found these little buttons at SIERRAS
(see that green sticker 50% off baby!)
I decorated the fronts and stuck magnets on the back
and I wrote out their list of chores
and put it all together
(can I just say Abbey Road paper is my all time favorite!)
(my son can't read yet so his has little pictures....and mom's choice is whatever needs done that day....unload dishwasher, clean out garage, it's my choice!)
I hot glued a little pocket of paper to hold the chores we don't need that day
I just hung them on a nail right outside their doors
When they accomplish something they move their little magnet over to the DONE column!
okay: here we are a year later.....
i went and added velcro to the sons clipboard..It was on his door and everytime he slammed it shut (yes, slammed. he's a boy. pure noise)
all the magnets would fall off.....so i just hot glued velcro on!
Very crafty, thrifty, and adorable - as always!

I am so excited to make these for my kids. What a cute idea. WHere do you get the magnetic paint?
ReplyDeleteI bought it at home depot...it's pretty expensive though! my sister just used some velcro if you don't want to spend the dough for the paint (and I have had NO luck with the spray paint kind!)
