(oh my gosh! THanks for all the comments....it makes me think my children aren't the worstest children ever..(only top ten)
(Okay, I talk alot of smack but my kids aren't HORRIBLE! But I wouldn't neccesarily call them ANGELS! My husband commutes and is gone for two weeks straight...and it wears on our little family....so these post are coming at the end of his two weeks. He'll come home and we will be refreshed and I won't want to lock my self in the bathroom.)
Back to our to-do list:
I know that the excitement of summer will probably last the first week (week and a half tops!) I knew we would need reinforcements! So I am arming myself the best I can.
I am making a list of all the fun things we can do this summer (easy and simple and affordable (most are even FREE)
I decorated a manila envelope to place each card in
And decorated each card (which took wayyyyyy longer than I thought..I wanted to use my cricut for them...and holy cow it took forever...I have over 50 cards though!)
The night before (actually I will probably plan out my whole week on sunday) I'll just stick in the card and hide the envelope. (yes, Hide. One more activity for the kids to do) If the activity calls for something I'll wrap it up and put it with the envelope (my kids love to unwrap stuff. You could wrap up a rock and they would be THRILLED!)
Now for example take the Dollar Store
In the envelope will be a dollar for each of them and then we will go to the dollar store and the kids can pick out whatever they want.
And movie
can either mean go to the movie or just watch one at home. We have a two dollar theater that has the whole summer planned out with kid movies for CHEAP (cheaper than two dollars!) So this card will be used multiple times!
And swim
We have a few swimming options around here so it could mean going to one of them or just pulling out our blow-up swimming pool.
Food ones:
Themed days:
Free Activites
A little money:
I'll probably buy new water guns for the water fight and something for the kids to dig up and a treasure to hunt for (probably all bought at the dollar store! I love that place!)
Out of the house but still FREE!
and activities that cost money
I'm also going to make sure I balance the week out. One craft, one game, One out of the house activity, One treat. ( Sundays we go to our grandparents house and monday nights we have Family Home Evenings and do something for that so we won't have a countdown those nights...)
(I had so many of these cards that I'm breaking it up into parts...tomorrow will be craft ideas! STAY TUNED!)
The hitch is this:
If they don't have enough good deeds in their can--(don't know what i'm talking about? CLICK HERE) NO MANILA ENVELOPE
(PLEASE PLEASE Let this work. Fingers are crossed)
And look at these other fun things to reduce summer boredom:
the bored jar (it has chores and fun things...luck of the draw!)
and
at clean mama
and here are a list of the tutorials i have accomplished thus far:

I am loving your ideas! We did something sort of similar to this last summer (Having things planned out and having a 'schedule' - movie, library, park, etc.) I am soooo going to take some of your ideas and use them for my girls (and my own sanity!) Thanks so much for sharing!
