yup. it's my birthday.
a big one..
20.
i had my daughter when i was 12.
(hey it could happen)
okay, i am freakin 30.
here's how i feel about it.
blah.
Here's why i hate getting older:
i though when i was 30 i have have my crap together (i don't)
I thought i would be mature (i'm not)
I thought i would have accomplished more (working on it.)
and let's talk about wrinkles.
and gravity
let's just say it's apparent.
as are some spider veins that i would rather not talk about.
but i'm choosing to spend my today doing a little something out of the ordinary...
(i'll share later...)
but for today...
since i love you...
and had so much fun last year doing this...
i'm giving away a party pack of crap my favorite things
to one lucky agaagg follower...
cause you guys make me feel cool.
and isn't what that really is what it's all about?
don't we just not want to feel like losers?
like somebody gets my movie references...
I have loved blogging from day one. i have loved getting to know my lovers (aka followers) and for all the opportunities (aka free crap) that comes with it!
so here's some crap to say i love you.....
all of my favorite things...things i made....things i use...things i hoard...things i saw at walmart and thought "cute"...like some HOT pink nail polish.....
to enter: leave me a comment telling me your favorite birthday memory.
that's it! I'll close it when i feel like it. cause it's my birthday.
dirty 30.
I loved my 30th birthday, mostly because my family threw me a big party and my husband got me a really great present! I also didn't think about all of things I hadn't accomplished yet.
ReplyDeleteMy family didn't have much money but my mom managed to throw me a little carnival in our backyard for my 6th bday. She re-purposed different items to create carnival games (with prizes to win!)and she made an awesome spread of food. She even dressed up like a clown and gave a comedic performance. Needless to say my friends and I had a great time (and my mom is awesome!).
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday!

my fav birthday memory was when i turned 18 and my dad bought me a silver mustang! my dream car! i cried so much and he cried too lol (probably because of the price tag!)
ReplyDeletebut this years bday (oct 21) will def top that one...im walking for breast cancer for my mom! she has just been diagnosed and starting treatment soon.

My favorite birthday memory was during college when my roommate made a cake for me and tried to hide it in her bedroom on her bed. Well before the party started she was getting dressed up and while putting on her stockings accidentally sat on my cake. It was hilarious!
ReplyDeleteMy family didn't do birthdays when I was a kid, so most of my birthday memories are from around 20 and up. My 25th birthday I spent at a dance conference taking classes and training in an art form I love with a good friend. That was a pretty good birthday. :)
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday.....enjoy every year! The people in Colorado would love to have other......
ReplyDeleteMy birthday is in 11 days. I will be 26...for real...
ReplyDeletemy best birthday memory was last year...My first birthday with. My own kid. She was exactly 1 month old when I turned 25. Something so much more special than my own birthday...having her.
Happy 30th! I will be 'enjoying' that event next summer... ugh. My favorite b-day memory is actually from the birthday I just had. This was the first year I actually said exactly what I wanted to do and guess what? We did EXACTLY what I wanted (breakfast out, a little shopping with my mom and a bbq with my hubby and kids ending in SMORES). It wasn't fancy, it didn't cost a lot, but it was perfect and I loved it.
ReplyDeleteI was miserable on my 30th. It was insanely hot, and I was as huge as a whale. I had my one and only kiddo 9 days later. That was my best belated bday present ever!
ReplyDeleteFavorite birthday memory? When I was 6 we moved on my birthday and as a result I got a store bought sesame street cake eaten on cardboard boxes. We never had store bought and I thought it was De.lic.ious.
ReplyDeleteStephaniemeyet at gmail.com
My best birthday memory thus far would be my 22nd. I had had my first baby four days earlier and was very much going on lack of sleep and all that good stuff from having a newborn (loving every moment of it). My husband allowed me to take a much needed nap and while I was sleeping he made me my favorite cake and woke me by singing "Happy Birthday."
ReplyDeleteHappy birthday girlfriend!! So you've joined the 30 club, huh? In my head, we're the same age. But really, I'm up on ya by a couple years. Lets keep that between you and me.
ReplyDeleteSo, I want your crap. Birthday memory, hmm, on my thirtieth, when I called my hubs at 8 at night to let him know, while he was out of town, eating out with work buddies at a very nice restaurant, that he had forgotten my birthday and I was home chillin with our kids . Priceless moment.
30? Ha!! You are just beginning to get your feet wet!! 63 here and loving it! Feeling great and doing more than ever!!
ReplyDeleteSo chin up sweetie...the best is coming!!
Hugs
SueAnn
My favorite birthday memory was my 22nd. My husband took me out to dinner and there was a babysitter for the kids (wahoo). It wasn't a fancy party but it was relaxing and that make it perfect.

My 18th (which sounds like a long time ago to me!) my parents were in on this but I looked outside and my car was stolen. I freaked. Picked up the phone to report it 911 asap. My mom then blindfolded me and spun me around with a bat. My sister and best friend came in and took me into my car filled with balloons and we went to dinner. They also got me drunk on the way but who's telling?! Good thing those cops weren't called huh? ;-) We went to my best friends house after dinner and her parents were out of town so the whole house was decorated with balloons, streamers, a cake, and a shirtless man card :) Best girls night and birthday ever!
ReplyDeleteMine was when I turned twelve and when I went outside to go to school, all my friends were on my porch and my mom took us all to breakfast. We thought we were all so cool all walking into our class late together :) I turn 30 this year too, so I feel your pain! Happy Birthday!!!
ReplyDeleteMine was my first birthday that my now husband and I were together. He took me to Disneyland (my favorite place in the entire world!) And along the drive he would randomly stop at gas stations and have me open another gift. He spoiled me rotten!
ReplyDeleteP.S. I love that poop cake! I've made a toilet cake and poop cupcakes you would die over! lol
Happy Birthday!
Happy Birthday.
ReplyDeleteI will be 30 in October. I know 30 is not old, but it sure makes a 29 year old FEEL old when it starts creeping up.
I am not big on my birthday, so I don't have any specific memories. But the birthday tradition I Love doing for my kids is wrapping up a new outfit and putting it on the foot of the bed for them to find in the morning. My Mom used to do that when we were kids. I always looked forward to my birthday outfit.
Happy Birthday.

I loved my 40th...yes...my 40th! I had just started back to school to finish my degree, joined MoTab (a life-long dream), and went to Disney World for the first time.....hey, it's never too late to live your best life. Sometimes you just have to drag your whole family around with you to do it ;)
ReplyDeleteP.S. Happy Birthday!
ReplyDeleteOne thing we did for a lot of my birthdays was mystery dinners. We would have 3 courses, and each food item and utensil had a name based on the theme for the party. We would pick what things we wanted in each course without knowing what we were choosing. So we could end up with all of our utensils in one course and not have any to eat the food in the other courses!
ReplyDeleteWhen I turned 25 my husband suprised me with pretty much the most awesome date ever!! Good bday!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite birthday was my 29th. My husband took me to Vegas, which was awesome. I was also pregnant at the time with our little girl, so it was extra special!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite bday memory was my 9th. I had a sleepover with 5 of my girfriends. My mom had just gotten a new video camera and we spent the whole night filming each other. We had talk shows, soap operas, etc. It was a blast. I love going back and watching that video. Hilarious! Happy birthday to you!!
ReplyDeleteLast month I turned 35 and while we were out and about my 5 yr old had to announce it to... everybody!
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday! 30 isn't so bad, shoot I am past 30 and I still don't have my stuff together, nor am I a grown up yet.
ReplyDeleteI think that my best birthday memory would have to be when I turned 10. I had a surprise birthday thrown for me with all of my friends and I got a 10-speed. It was a great birthday!
Welcome to the Dirty Thirties, Kimbo! My fave birthday moment just happens to be two years ago when I also turned 30. My hubby is in the Army and he was away (and had been for almost a year at that point) so I was getting all ready to feel super sorry for myself. I mean, turning THIRTY and doing it alone? blah! But much to my surprise he had been in touch with one of my girlfriends who carried out a master plan for him! She took my kiddos for an hour while I went to get the most heavenly massage. When I arrived in the massage room it was full of flowers and a card from hubby. Made me cry and made my day!!!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite memory was my parents bringing me on a cruise to Baja Mexico for my 16th birthday. It was so much more memorable than a car and it was a great experience.
ReplyDeleteMy fav is probably the year I got a ring from my boyfriend (now hubby!)!! It was winter and he had written in HUGE letters in the snow with Christmas lights: 'Molly, will you marry me?' So sweet! Great giveaway!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite memory was my parents bringing me on a cruise to Baja Mexico for my 16th birthday. It was so much more memorable than a car and it was a great experience.
ReplyDeleteMy husband threw me a surprise 30th birthday party. He never does anything like this. So, I felt extra special.
ReplyDeletemy favorite birthday memory is my 21st I went to wendover and had a blast!
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday!!
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday! My favorite birthday was my 5th birthday :) It as a semi funny memory as my parents bought me a doll that talked... spanish. I did not know one word of spanish so it would be talking to me (not iterally of course..) and I had no idea what it was saying.. Just funny because it sounded ike giberish to me and made me laugh. Good Memories <3
ReplyDeleteHappy birthday! I get to join the 30 club next year, so get the path forged for those of us coming behind you!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite birthday memories are from growing up. My dad was a firefighter, and if he worked on my birthday, mom & I would go to the station & have birthday dinner with all the guys...complete with cake & balloons. It made it special having all my "big brothers" there to celebrate with me.
Kellye
One of my favorite birthday memories was when I turned 30. The hubs tried to surprise me by flying my sister to surprise me. She missed her flight and he spent the entire day "creatively" figuring out reasons to explain why he was constantly on the phone!
ReplyDeleteShe ended up getting there and surprising me by jumping out of my closet...good times.
Happy, Happy Birthday!! My favorite birthday memory was when I was giantly pregnant with my second daughter and my husband took me to this fantastic restaurant in Laguna Beach, and this super sweet couple sitting near us totally paid for our meal and left us a sweet note on their bill telling us to take care of each other and our kids. It was adorable and someday we want to do that for someone!!
ReplyDeletePS I love Mean Girls - Danny Devito, I love your work!! haha my favorite part :)
It's my daughter's birthday today, too! She's turning 8 and I'm avoiding getting ready for the princess party that will hit our house in just over 2 hours...
ReplyDeleteI just turned 30 this week too. Not my favorite. This year, I was spoiled because my hubby took the day off and the girls picked out necklaces for me. Good memories there. :)
ReplyDeleteOne of my favorite birthdays was when I turned 25. I had just gotten married a couple weeks before and was just so happy!
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday to you! :)
For me it was when i turned 15, my dad sang to me to wake me up with his guitar and it was like a little serenade :)... Im sorry if that sounds cheesy
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday Kimbo! I turn 30 next year and I'm kind of freaking out a little bit...
ReplyDeleteMy favorite birthday memory was my 18th because I spent it with my family and boyfriend (who I later married) in Disneyland!
Happy Birthday! My fav birthday memory is having my face shmeared with birthday cake last year.
ReplyDeleteI loved my 5th birthday because my dad took me on a 'date,' to see Beauty and the Beast in theaters. We even got to get popcorn (which never happens in our family). It was a fun birthday.
ReplyDeleteI usually feel blah about my birthday too. Except for 30. For my 30th we had a party but mainly it was to celebrate that I had gotten my Master's Degree because I'd rather celebrate that than turn another year older. Happy 30th!
ReplyDeletePeople die on or arround my birthday. I have killed off both my great grandparents on my dad's side, my great grandma on my mom's, 2 of my sister in laws relatives, both my husbands gradmas and Elizabeth Taylor. I dont usually celebrate my birthday.
ReplyDeleteHey I'm turning thirty in two weeks. I didn't really want to be 7 months pregnant for the day but whatever! My favorite memory was two years ago. We went camping in Yellowstone. My husband did all the shopping, cooking and child caring and cleaning. All I had to do was enjoy the delight in my childrens' eyes and send them to bed after smores. I think that is all I want again-- see delight in their eyes and have someone else handle to rest of the day.
ReplyDeleteI loved all my birthdays.
ReplyDeleteI just turned 70 and have been married now 50 years.
Yes you have your up's and down but I would never changed it.
If you can not look at the numbers you are in age if it is depressing.
Think of the people who care enough to make comments.
That is a happy reward having bloggers care enough of you for Birthday greetings. I am one..
Better days ahead .
Do you know how many Moms who have loss their children in this killing in a show. They Would give anything to have them back.
You have your child. Thank God.
Give her a hug.
can i just tell you how excited i was when i saw that it's your birthday?? i feel like it's an official holiday that i just found out about. this is probably my most favorite blog ever. my birthday was exactly a month ago tomorrow, and i decided i didn't want cake. i wanted unicorn poop. so i had unicorn poop. happy birthday kimbo! :)
ReplyDeleteA huge Happy Birthday to You!
ReplyDeleteMy 30th birthday sucked! firstly it was mothers day so I had the kids wake me at the crack of dawn to say happy mothers day, and happy birthday! No birthday present because everyone was focused on Mothers day, then I had to rush to the Mil's for lunch, then rush to church then back to my Mum's for dinner - kids were whining all day because they were tired...then, because lucky me I also share it with my sister who is a year younger on the same day Our mothers day evening was spent with her carrying on about a year left till she turned thirty and was "OLD"! Needless to say 31 was awesome because I spent a year furious at the mention of birthdays...and I don't usually sook about things like that, now at 36 I tell ya 30's rock! Young enough to do it all, old enough to know when to stop :)
My best birthday was totally my 19th. My 18th was awful because my Dad died just a few days before but my friends totally made up for it the next year. I'm extremely nosy and curious yet my three best friends were able to set up a surprise birthday party for me. I thought something was being planned but never imagined a surprise party. Holly planned it, Kandy funded it and Brian got me there (through a series of "forgetting" to tell me things and conniving). I didn't get that anything was going on till we pulled up and I saw my friends car that I knew never came to that town. They had all my good friends, a homemade cake, a bunch of other goodies and fun. Afterwards a few of them took me out to a club and the haunted woods, etc. It was awesome to have my friends really go all out like that.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite birthday was my 16th. I got to invite everyone I knew for my party...childhood friends, family I hadn't seen in years, my close friends, church family, and awesome family. We danced and sang karaoke for hours...fun times!! It was the only time that EVERY single person I love was in the same place other than my wedding. Such a super wonderful day (plus I got a car which was a great bonus!)
ReplyDeleteMy favorite birthday memory....it would be from two weeks ago. My birthday is on the 10th. I turned 31. My boyfriend decorated the house in pink streamers, tons of balloons, and gave me a Birthday Barbie. I only have boys, so he gave me a Barbie because I'm always saying I wish I had a daughter so I could justify buying Barbies. :) It was so simple, such a sweet gesture, and yet it was incredible.
ReplyDeleteAs for turning 30, I felt like I was just getting started on my life. It felt like I was turning 18. It kind of kills me when people get so depressed about birthdays, but as I explained to a friend, birthdays are YOUR day. Even if you share it with others, it is still YOUR day. You were born. YOU. You were born and started the chain reaction of other things, such as blogging and sharing your crafty glue-gunniness with us. You married your man candy hotness (that's my nickname for my boyfriend but I'll share right now for you). You had your beautiful babies. You became a sister, a daughter, a wife, a mother, a friend, an aunt.....if you weren't born, none of these things would be possible.
So please, celebrate the day and enjoy each year that happens. It just means another year of being old enough to know better, young enough to not care, and wise enough to know how to get away with it. ;)
HAPPY BIRTHDAY!
Favorite birthday memory? Probably 25, because it's not NEARLY as old as 30 but old enough to justify being married and having two kids already.
ReplyDelete:-)
Ugh. I've got 2.5 months until the dreaded 30. Uggghhh....
ReplyDeleteFavorite birthady memory is my 21st birthday. All of my college friends were older than me and had already graduated, but EVERY.ONE. came from wherever they were for my 21st birthday. It was so super fun! Gosh, I miss those days some times.
Happy Birthday!! And really, 30's not so bad. Wait til you hit 33 ;)
ReplyDeleteThe year I turned 23 was pretty cool, because my would-be-husband asked me out on our first real date.
My favorite birthday memory is one of my Nana... she always made the best German Chocolate Cakes! And from SCRATCH!! No box mix for that grandma! So it is the ONLY way I make it (with Baker's 'German Chocolate' Chocolate)... She's been gone now for over 6 years, but every time I make that cake I think of her... and I can hear her say my name. I also miss her yellow plastic glasses and yellow plastic ice tea pitcher that she used to serve me and my 2 cousins (oh, how I miss ice tea!) I haven't had that in over 20 years, but I still have memories of it! Well, anyways I hope you had a really 'TOTALLY WITCHEN AWESOME BIRTHDAY'! Sorry... I had to edit myself there, but you get the idea! :) Happy Birthday Kim!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite birthday was two years ago...my 34th. My boys "helped" their dad go shopping for my birthday party. Guess what I got....Barbie dolls! And guess what...I loved them. I told the boys I had never had a Barbie doll, which was true. Since telling them that, they have been so concerned that I didn't have Barbies as a child that I have now gotten Barbies for every other birthday and the two Christmases since then. Love those boys of mine! Happy birthday!
ReplyDeleteOooh I love crap! My best birthday was my last one. 24. My sweet friends planned a dinner party and then we danced the night away!
ReplyDeleteMy 20th birthday was the first one I was celebrating away from home (college Spring Break was late that year). I was a little sad to be hours from home, but my roommates assured me they would make it fabulous. My boyfriend at the time, ordered a huge cake, one that we would never be able to finish. I mentioned sending some home to my mom, and he put me in the car & drove all night so I could eat cake & ice. Ream with my parents. We spent 2 hours there, then had to make it back in time for 10:00 classes. Best birthday memory!
ReplyDeleteI hated turning 30 too. I'm 31 now and still hated turning 30. On my 16th birthday my parents had a surprise party for me. As stupid as I felt for not figuring out, we still had a great time!
ReplyDeleteYour you go glen coco reminded me of this:

so funny!
My favorite birthday memory was when my hubby and lil man surprised me with breakfast in bed and cards. It was so sweet.
Happy Birthday!
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday, Kimbo!! My favorite birthday memory is the year I turned 19. After high school, my tight-knit group of friends and I all went different directions. I went to TX to do an internship and was only able to come home to IN twice. I was able to come home for my birthday for a few days, and my friends threw me a surprise party. Dinner at my favorite restaurant and an ice cream cake (my fav). It just felt really special.
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday. My favorite birthday memory would be from 4 years ago. We rented a cabin in the mountains and got snowed in. It was beautiful and relaxing because when the kid (because there was only one then) started complaining that he wanted to go into town we had a really good excuse not to go. We hung out in front if the fire place, played games, and had snowball fights.
ReplyDeleteMy birthday was this month to, but I am over twice your age! I still feel depressed about it. I have not got it together, not grown up, (yet feel like an old fogie -or however you spell it! sometimes)and wish I could turn the clock back some. This year was a favorite birthday though. I had my 14 year old granddaughter from PA with us for a few (way to few) weeks. We live in Texas so this was a very special time and she made it even more special. She made a cake for me, got the 5 yr old granddaughter helping to throw me a party with them and my husband. It made getting older a bit of fun on an otherwise depressing day!
ReplyDeleteA fun birthday memory is when my husband made me a t-shirt with my boys handprints on it. It was one of the most spectacularly embarrassing shirts as it says really big on it "Happy 25th birthday!" and then he happened to put the handprints of the boys on it so when I wear it, it looks like I have two hands that are grabbing my boobs. Oh, and it is glow-in-the-dark.
ReplyDeletedevonkinne at yahoo dot com
My favorite childhood birthday was a pirate party. I think I was 7 or 8 years old. My whole class came over and my mom made all kinds of pirate goodies and created cool pirate games. My favorite grown up birthday was the year every one forgot. My birthday is December 23rd so that's not hard to do with all the hub-bub going on for a birthday way more important than mine (Christmas, of course!). Anyway, -I think I was turning 25 or 26. At first I was a little sad and upset, but then I realized I was old enough that it was OK...no big deal.
ReplyDeleteBy the way...30 really isn't that old, and you look beautiful!
Happy Birthday!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite birthday memory was as a little kid getting a lemonade stand :-)
My favorite childhood memory would have to be my 7th birthday--my parents got me a lamp. I wanted an American Girl doll. At the time it wasn't very cool, but now I find it hilarious that my parents thought a 7 year old would like a lamp. Parents are so weird!
ReplyDeleteOur youngest son will be 31 tomorrow!!!!!! Kim, your look at 30 edged me out LONG ago, hehe. My favorite "birthday" wasn't mine, it was a party we put together for my hubby. We put him in charge of getting our brother-in-law to a surprise party for "him." It was hilarious! Folks brought him 61 pennies, 61 pieces of candy, etc. He was TOTALLY surprised. Love It!! Happy Birthday lady! Prayers for many many more. Jackie (aka GmaJackie. I'll be 60 in 2 years!)
ReplyDeletei loved my 8th birthday party because i shared with 8 other girls who all their birthdays in march.and we had sooo much fun.
ReplyDeleteDarling, 30 is difficult, 40, more difficult, but for some reason 50 - is freeing. Hang in there.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite birthday memory is going to the L n K family resturant with my grandparents and getting a birthday cake to take home! A memory I will keep forever.
ReplyDeleteTurning the big 30 is not what everyone makes it out to be. When I turned 30 I felt wonderful. I was not depressed and laying around crying. After all, you are only as old as you feel and I feel 21.LOL I am about to be 40 in 2 1/2 yrs and looking forward to it. Five sons, one step-daughter, two step-sons, one husband , and 37 yrs later, I still feel 21. Live life for what it is and think young!!!!
Happy birthday Kim!!! I also turned 30 a few weeks ago, I gotta say I am love being 30! Embrace it and enjoy it!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite birthday was my 8th birthday. My little sister had been in the hospital for months (stage 4 leukemia). We got to surprise her with a cake and ice cream as well as all the other kiddos on her floor. It was really special to see the big smiles on the face of all those sweet angels as I delivered treats to each of their rooms.
I turned 30 this week too...eeek! We had a redneck slip and slide party yesterday to celebrate. Keeping it mature of course. :) Happy Birthday and I hope it's fabulous. The least you can do is show 30 who's boss & rock the hell out of it!
ReplyDeleteHappy HAPPY Birthday...yesterday!!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the awesome giveaway :)
One of my favorite birthday memories was one year my mom splurged and hired a magician. He filled up a glass of water, made it disappear, then made it reappear by THROWING IT IN MY FACE!! Not even kidding. Later, we played a game of trying to pop a balloon tied to your ankle, and the one who is the last one to get theirs popped is the winner {sometimes you have to get creative}. So, I went inside, got a pin and I owned that game. It's my birthday, I can cheat at games if I want to. Especially since my hair looked like a wet rat.
Happy Birthday!!! Enjoy your day! You are only 30! You have all the time in the world to get your goals accomplished. Don't think about that today. Hope you have a great day!
ReplyDeleteFavorite birthday memory was when my parents took me to the beach for the weekend and we sat on the balcony, eating chocolate cake and having wine coolers. Then a pod of orcas started playing around in the bay and the sun was setting. Bliss!
ReplyDeleteI have two favorites. My 22nd, I had just gotten married 2 days before and we were on our honeymoon at Disneyland. And my 30th, with I spent in the hospital with my son's amazing birth momma. (LOVE HER!) My beautiful son was born the next day...he just didn't want to share his birthday. :)
ReplyDeleteMy favorite birthday has to be my 28th (3 years ago) because I was uber pregnant, like about to bust but still had a month and a half to go, and my (now) husband surprised me with a scavenger hunt and proposed to me. It was freezing, I could only fit into flip flops, and I was a hormonal mess, but it was such a great day and my husband is amazing! I always thought I would hate 30 or getting older but I love having the knowledge and experience life's wonderful blessings which I did not appreciate enough when I was younger. I hope you have an amazing birthday!!!
ReplyDeleteMy dad always took each of us kids on a "date" for our b-day - just the b-day kid and him. I have some special memories of those dates.
ReplyDeleteHAPPY BIRTHDAY KIM!! THIRTIES AREN'T THAT BAD!! CELEBRATE!!
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday!! My favorite memory probably wouldn't be one of my own, but one of my daughters. For my daughters 4th bday we took her to Disneyland and the look on her face when she figured out what we were doing was the best thing ever.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite birthday memory was my 21st bithday. A lot of fun with friends.

I've had a lot of fun birthdays. 30 was an especially hard one- my grandp has just died and it was his funeral. So I got to skip right on over it :). This year was 35 and I spent it in Playa del Carmen Mexico with my husband and my dad and step mom. Super fun!!
ReplyDeleteOn my 16th birthday I got 8 balloons from my friends to carry around and act like an attention whore, a massive sweet 16, and a boy proposed to me. Can't say I've ever had a more exciting birthday since then. This year it was on Easter...and I spent it at my grandma's house NOT eating my favorite foods on account of severe morning sickness. Ick. 16 please.
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday!!! Let's see.. my fave birthday memory was getting a camera from my hubs (then boyfriend(. He couldn't wait to give it to me, so as soon as I got home from school he dug it out from under the bed and gave it to me days early! haha!
ReplyDeleteWelcome to 30! My fav memory was my 30th as well: Scene- 7 day old newborn son (need i say more) the hubby and I got away for lunch for more than 2 hours. Needless to say I am looking forward to my 35th and 40th so I can make up for my not-so-exciting 30th.
ReplyDeleteHappy 30th! Or not happy-whatever you want to make it. :-) I know what you mean-I thought I'd have it together by 30. I'm 31 and I am even less together than I was last year.
ReplyDeleteEasily, one of my favorite birthday memories was my 40th. (See how old *I* am?!?) It wasn't a huge deal or anything, but like you, I thought I would be a certain kind of grown-up, surely by the time I hit 40. Not so. It actually makes me feel a little younger, so that's okay. But here's what made it good. My husband took me to my favorite restaurant, where some friends were waiting to surprise me. It was a casual, chatty evening, but I looked around the table and thought, "Hmm. If this is where I am at 40, it's actually better than my 9-year-old self thought it should be. Go, me!" Good friends, like the kind you can only have when you have some highway behind you, that's the stuff.
ReplyDeleteHappy belated! I think my fav b-day moment was on my 25th, my 4 month old hadn't napped all day but refused to go to sleep(my cheapo babysitting plan). She ended up being a guest at the party, people just passed her around (it was really small) and then finally (fav moment here) as we were saying goodbye to everyone at 2am she was nodding off on my hip. The nosey little thing stayed up til the end.
