Cricut craft room.
heard of it?
well. it's new (ish) so maybe not.
but it's pretty darn awesome....and FREE. (it's actually alot like the cricut design studio we talked about last cricut love post) but FREE. and did i mention it was free?
you know..i just knew provocraft was going to come up with something... i mean they HAVE too to compete with other cutters.
alright: let's get down to business:
the pros and cons!
Pro: it has every cartridge provo craft EVER made. ever.
Con: you can only CUT with the ones you have (you can design with them all though)
Pro: it will weld, stretch, turn, basically anything my scal does.
Pro: you can link up your cartridge one time and it will store them and you don't have to use them to cut
CON: there is a problem with cartridges already linked up to a gypsy (but they are working on it)
(you can go to announcement to read the latest HERE (at the bottom)
PRO: the craft room comes with a file that is free to everyone (bonus stuff)
(go to craft room exclusives then craft room basics)
CON: it doesn't have TOO much stuff..just a few free stuff
PRO: it can make the icons big so you can actually see them
CON: you have to keep collapsing the screen to see your mat.
PRO: it has a search (awesome!)
you can narrow it down to a certain kind of cartidge or just cricut cake ones or what have you! pretty fun! (especially when you need that specific thing for that specific project!)
PRO: it's pretty organized..i knew right where the princess was
PRO: you can bookmark images so when you hit bookmark it will only show the ones you have hit (so you can bookmark all your cartridges so you don't have to be tempted by the other ones
PRO: WISHLIST this is great--if you come across a new font or cartridge that you love you can add it to your wishlist so you can remember it later.
PRO: you can buy a cartridge right there if you REALLllllllly need it..
CON: they aren't as cheap as a good joanns sale or ebay
PRO: even if you don't want to download it to your computer to cut..you could still use it to search for specific things or try out a cartridge before you buy it
(two versions: web one...
or download onto your computer (you can only cut with this one!)
PRO: it still has all the fun things that we love about cartridges:
PRO: it's pretty easy. i have only used it thrice and i feel like i could create something pretty fast
and now there are videos to help you learn all about it (go HERE to watch them!)
and after i signed up i started getting fun emails about great deals and sales!
and on a somewhat related note to cricuts:
this is another totally random liking of fonts...
cursive:
for great handwriting ones *you know....like from real people cause no one really writes like mr and mrs popsicle...
amanda and kevin have terrific ones
and now...some news.
i would say exciting..
you might throw tomatoes.
okay. pictures worth a 1000 words
and this picture is screaming
CAMEO!!!!!!
on an unrelated sidenote:
the diy club is having some awesomely themed parties
it's got to be holiday..it's got have the certain color...and it has to involve paint (or spray paint)
today it's HERE--so if you have a green project go link it up!
and do you see dec 6...it's all about sparkle and glitter so make sure you get out your cans of glitter blast and get painting so you can link it up on tuesday!!!!
(you can go here for all the rules)
Only you would have a Cricut Love post with a picture of a Silhouette Cameo in it! Traitor! J/K. At least now you can really compare what is good and bad about both of them. There are always posts about Silhouette vs. Cricut, but I don't think too many people have both. It is like iPhone vs. droid - who has both? Have fun with your new toy. :)
ReplyDeleteAH! I'm jealous you are holding a cameo! My husband ordered me one for Christmas on black friday - and I can HARDLY contain myself till it gets here - I will be using it before Christmas! ps. any cameo hints/tips/links to freebies would be great... :)
ReplyDeleteglad to see you jumped ship :)
ReplyDeleteI ordered a Cameo on black friday. I cannot wait for it to arrive. Looking forward to seeing what you think/create.
ReplyDeleteI'm curious if you actually downloaded the Cricut Craft Room and cut with it. I'm wondering if it forces you to update your Cricut software to a version that no longer works with SCAL or Make the Cut, which is what I have. That sure would be an easy way for Provo Craft to stop the use of random SVG's on the Cricut for those of us who had those programs before the law suit.
ReplyDeleteI'm wondering the same thing as Donna. I love my SCAL. Was VERY angry at lawsuit. Would love to use the new Cricut design room HOWEVER not ready to give up SCAL and all my fonts. Would be sneaky of Provo Craft if does knock off SCAL. Would be then me a VERY VERY unhappy camper with Cricut.
ReplyDeleteyah..not sure if the design room would be worth losing your scal! make sure to check-- that would be stink to loose your scal!
ReplyDeleteHow can I find the dafont fonts i downloaded on the cricut craft room
