a pillow

now..don't think i have posted this already...cause it's going to look awfully similar...

but it's not another pink ruffly apron...
it's a pink ruffly pillow!

I had loads of pink leftover...(still do even after this project)

I took each strip, folded it in half (right sides together) and sewed it up to make a tube.

then i turned it right side out...

ironed it so the seam is up the back

then I sewed a loose stitch up the middle to make the ruffle

then you pull pull pull to ruffle it up.

then I took my rectangle that fits my pillow and pinned on my ruffles

and sewed them all.

then I took a front and back piece (cause let's face it...this is for my daughters room. removable pillowcases are our friends)
overlap the top piece onto the bottom to match the other rectangle..

right sides together.

pin (try to get the ends of the ruffles out)

and sew the sides

the top and bottom i sewed by tucking in the fabric (I didn't want to accidentaly grab the ruffles in my stitch)

i just slightly tucked each side in and pinned....and when i sewed i kept the ruffle out of the way!

then I just sewed it all up and stuck in a pillow

she's a fan....

  7. this is so cute! Thanks for showing how you sewed the "tube" first. I make ruffles then once I wash them they all shrivel up. I'll be using this technique next time :)

  11. Do you have any tips for the ruffle? I keep breaking the thread as I pull to try and ruffle it..I am on the biggest stitch my machine does and using high quality thread.

  12. slow and steady....

if that still doesn't work--you can do a stitch half way then start a new stitch and finish it up (make sure you keep the strings long to pull it)
