I usually just use the cricut brand roll (it's $10 at Joanns but you can use your 40% off coupon) and my Walmart has some for $8 but just basic colors. I know that other craft stores also have vinyl. (my sierras has a 12x12 sheet for $3...but comes in polka dots or metallics.
And I have heard through the grapevine that you can go to sign shops (like the ones that do the big business) and they have scraps leftover that they will sell you for cheap..and some even just give it away for free.

There are some cheaper palces for vinyl. I use signwarehouse.com and expressionsvinyl.com. Expressions vinyl you buy it by the sheet for a couple bucks which is still cheaper than joanns and they have more colors. I hope this helps you out in saving a few bucks. They also ship it pretty fast.
