Coloring Book

So some person left me a comment awhile back saying that they were trying to MAKE all their Christmas Gifts this year. And crazy me thought, "that is such a neat idea....I should try to do that!" I in all actuality knew that ALL the gifts would not be homemade but I made a list of things to make for their upcoming birthdays and christmas. And I haven't done anything.....

and my daughters birthday was Aug 16.

So guess what I did on Aug 15?

CRAFTED BY BUTT OFF!

But I finished at least ONE thing:
my coloring book

My daughter is crazy in love with coloring. Honest. A whole entire shelf of just color books.
First Start with cutting the front and back covers (I just measured a coloring book against it)

two sheets for front.....two sheets for back.
before you sew anything together add all your pockets and whoo hawws.

I iron all the sides down and stitch the top before I pin it into place

sew them around (except for top) and then add my stitching for all the markers and crayons.

see what it looks like on the inside. Place this right sides together with the front and add some handles before you sew

I added a ruffle to the handle cause it was cute!!!

sew it all around except for the side that attachs to the back page

what your two sides look like. I added a piece of cardboard to both sides to keep it more sturdy
I then sewed the two pieces together putting the raw edges facing outward
and then I took a piece of fabric and sewed it as the spine
when it's finished you fill it up

got these on my school sales:
25 cent crayon
$1 markers
$1 coloring pencils
and got the coloring book at the dollar store

loves it!!!

  6. I have seen several crayon holders and colouring book cases on Etsy, but yours is the best design I have come across! I love how it holds crayons AND markers AND coloured pencils, as well as places for both colouring books and blank paper. This is definitely going on my To Do List. :) Well done and thanks for sharing!

  14. I actually started doing this last year and I was able to make everyone gifts, and then immediate family also got some store purchased gifts. This years funds are sooo tight I think only homemade gifts will be had, except for the kid.
But some ideas from my last christmas are hand painted wine glasses, mugs, beer glasses, champagne glasses, juice glasses, margarita glasses, etc (you can find the glasses at the dollar store, so $1 a person was my budget).
    Thanks for the great idea!
