This little towel bed makes a perfect place to put that slippery little baby while you dry them off and lotion them up (oh the smell of the lotion...I might be a tinsy bit baby hungry....oh they just pooped all over..baby lusting is over).
Take a towel (found this little treasure at walmart for $3 (and it was originally for my towel wrap)
cut off the little stripes (cute but not what I was going for)
much better
this towel will be folded in half
You are going to take some batting and cut to fit . (the more batting you use the softer it will be for baby!)
open up the towel and put the batting on one side
do you see the batting. They should make like pink batting so it photographs better.
Then just fold the side over and pin it all around the edge.
for the one unfinished edge....I just tucked the two pieces under and pinned
so when it was all sewed up...it was time to embellish.
Took a strip of fabric and pinned it into place
(I actually ironed under the seams so it would be ready to go)
and made a pretty little ducky
sewed the duck on first then the circle.
Now,you just lay by the bathtub....or sink and when you naked little baby is all clean and ready to get out of the bath...just put them on the little towel bed.
and while your baby is tiny teeny you can fold up the side
and you can use it as a pillow
folds up nice for easy storage
no babies were harmed in the photographing of this towel
{ and I'm putting this in my etsy shop!}
Make sure you check out my other water week crafts!!!!
Very sweet - love the pictures with the doll.
ReplyDeleteso cute! I wish I would've had one when my daughter was younger!! Now when I get her out the tub she runs off butt naked laughing!!
ReplyDeleteHow cute! The duck is adorable. Love your baby! ;)-
ReplyDeleteWhat would you do when it came time to wash it? Hand wash? Line dry? I always wonder because I've messed up a lot of things with batting simply by washing them!
Thanks!
Great idea!! The soft skin, baby lotion, smell of baby wash.... CANNOT let myself think of those things :)
ReplyDeleteCute idea ~ I would've loved to have one of those when my son was little!!
ReplyDeleteVisiting from NFF
Here from NFF. Funny that you were the entry above me because I was just on your site earlier. Anyway, my sis just had a baby a month ago and I think she started getting real baths within the last couple of weeks. One of these would be perfect. I think I need to go out and get a new pink towel. :-)
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea! I love the duck embellishment. Might have to make this for my next little one!

ReplyDeleteI'm so glad glad no babies were harmed. Lol I had to re-read that comment cause the first time I thought it said "no babies were hemmed" rofl.
ReplyDeleteI had one of these when my son (now almost 6!) was born. I hadn't ever even seen or heard of them until then. It made everything so much easier! Loved that little towel... actually forgot about it until I saw this. I'm due with my 3rd baby in a month so I think I better get to the project!! lol. Thanks! :)
