scalloped skirt

i thought i would write up an uninformative tutorial on the scalloped skirt...cause it IS my favorite thing.....

now. i really did think about finishing the edges..but it really just wouldn't give the effect i wanted. i wanted it be light and fluffly and comfortable. like a jersey skirt...but more than just a plain jersey skirt. i wanted my daughter to be able to wear it to school...and be comfortable enough to play on the playground but still look soo cute...

i just started by cutting the scallops...i did the first one about 15 inches high..the next one was only 13 then 11 then 9--and then they were all the same width (my daughter is 9)

after i got each piece cut it was time for rit...
i stocked up cause i had no idea what i wanted to do at the beginning..but i went the ombre route..very subtle...

after it was all washed and dried...i laid it all out and pinned it and sewed across the top....

i added a big stitch and gathered it until the fit the elastic i measured to my daughter's waist

then sewed up the back...

i totally love it. like going to make me a matching mommy version...

i have like no how to pics for the cardigan...i decided to add scallops on the front...
but white on white is a horrible picture to get...

hey i did take one picture...i sewed it down twive...(where the pins are...) and then overlapped the next scalloped layer on top so you can see the stitches...

there you have it! my prap look...favorite thing i've made to date!
