a sash...

this little treat got buried in my inbox...but it's another post about my sister's wedding
last one i swear....triple swear.

at the beginning of wedding planning...we were going to make all 8 nieces big black tulle skirts...
but we all value our time..
okay...we actually all had black skirts in our daughters closet
(my daughter actually wore her tiered skirt (HERE)

but anyways...my youngest had a black skirt...and a black shirt.
and for the life of me i could not find a black and white cute shirt for her.
(let me rephrase...i couldn't find that didn't have a giant minnie mouse head on it.)
so at walmart..i ran into these flowers (on clearance)

{ i feel i have to put that cause in two years i'm going to get emails from people who saw this on pinterest and will request the how to . preemptive strike.}

the back is iron on...and i toyed with ironing it around her collar on her shirt...
but opted out for a belt/sash thingy....
took a 5 in strip of black...sewed right sides together and turned it right sides out and ironed...
just a nice loose base stitch...i wanted to be able to take these off and put them as hair bows if i wanted...

breaks up all the black!
you could make a smaller version and wear it as a headband....
these flowers are a bit big for my daughters head...
but you get the idea....

  1. Those flowers are a great find and what a terrific use of them.

And yes, smart to put that photo disclaimer on there :)
