my sister in law brought these sucker to a fourth of july party...about oh. um 6 years ago. and they have been my favorite since! and they really aren't too hard!
so make rice krispie treats as usual...
BUT before you add in your krispie's...split up the marshmallows and add food coloring
I acutally just made two seperate batches...cause it's easier that way...
then you add your krispies and press it into two seperate pans..
(and you red will come out pink even if you add like almost the entire thing of food coloring)
then you make your filling:
p.s these choc chips aren't as good as nestle.
Melt: 1 ½ cups white chocolate chips
Stir in: 1 Tbs oil
Beat in : ¾ cup powdered sugar
Add: 2 Tbs water
you can see in this bottom photo it get's pretty chunky...so the water just helps smooth it out and then you press it onto one of the krispies..Stir in: 1 Tbs oil
Beat in : ¾ cup powdered sugar
Add: 2 Tbs water
then you flip the other color on top (i made just a half a batch....i'm making these for 4th of july..but didn't want to give you tutorial on july 5th...cause well..that would be dumb.)
then you cut it up and eat...or just eat...cause sometimes cutting takes too much time.
mad props to the food bloggers who make their stuff look awesome. new respect for them after this one!
i've also got a printable on google docs for you HERE!
(if you aren't a white choc fan..you could just add icing..or some uncolored krispies and still get the red white and blue affect!
happy 4th!
If you use the Americolor brand of food coloring, it is a true red. If you ever head north, stop in at the Prepared Pantry (Just off County Line Road) for some. It is $1.35 per bottle. Super concentrated. Oh, and make sure that you have plenty of $. That place just sucks it away:)
ReplyDeleteYummy! I'm drooling over here.
ReplyDeleteHow brilliant! Not only do these look delicious but they are so festive. I hope you'll add this to my Patriotic Project Parade going on through July 4th.

thank you so much for posting these I've been looking for 4th of July finger foods desserts. I'm using them in my round up on Monday and making them Wed.
ReplyDeleteif it helps, I don't get true red unless I use gel food coloring. otherwise it's pink. My mom said you can add black and get red instead of pink but I've never tried that. she is awesome and knows all things foods however. thanks again!
Oh my goodness! These sound AMAZING! I love rice krispies anyway... but these! Drool!
