if my husband read my blog i totally would post a picture of him..
you know..dingbat.
but since he doesn't
i'll move on....
so, last edition we talked about fonts!
and i said that i get most my fonts at dafont.com.....
BUT did you know that dafont also has great dingbats
(dingbats are like clipart..little pictures but they are uploaded like a font...and each letter and number is assigned to an image...(like webdings)
it's right there on the first page up top.....
i typed in animals.....and this is the first ones that come up...plus 12 more pages....
...i downloaded this dc comic one....
and i literally could make my son every superhero shirt ever
for my son's waterbottle....
i used this font to get the punisher symbol
i might have had to google "who is the superhero with the skull with long teeth" to find out it was the punisher....
(everytime i see a comic book i think of the big bang theory!)
I cut it out using my cricut and some freezer paper stencil....
if you haven't used freezer paper to make a stencil...you are totally missing out!
you just lay it on your mat shiny side down....
and cut like it's paper or vinyl...
go slow..the paper is pretty thin...
then you just iron it on
it sticks and makes a great stencil!!!!!
then there is this AWESOME product from americana that will turn any paint into fabric paint...
you just mix 2 parts paint to one part fabric medium..and paint it on...
peel off the freezer paper (it peels real easy)
the ribbed tank top made it so the coverage wasn't that great....still looks good in person..you can make your own halloween shirts:
for mustaches...
i just googled mustache (and boy were there some funny pictutes)
but i found some great ones...
just saved to my picture file...
you can use picnik to trim it down if the picture has more than one...
then you go to your scal
and click the TRACE button (best button ever...go here if you need a how to)
and then size it...
and cut..
(you can also click object and duplicate
and make yourself a stach for everyday of the week....
p.s...if you are stash obsessed:
for the records...they are not blurry...just my snip of the my word document blown up makes it look that way...so r2d2 will come out nice and crisp!!!!
(this one would be so cute on a t-shirt)
or you can make yourself a sign for your business or your house......i know....it's a little boy oriented!!!!
her's a little girl power:
(these all came from various..)
i only made it to page 10..and there are 28 more!
how fun would these frames be in vinyl all over a wall?
but they also have loads of symbols...so you could make yourself a knock off puma shirt...
when i am trying to find something i like it's easist to open the font on scal
it will show you everything it's got--and when you scroll over it it will just make it bigger. so you kinda have a basic idea of what you are working with.
and the more you use it...the more you remember all the fun dingbats you have.
and one of the biggest questions i get about cricut is can you cut fabric with it....
and the answer is YES!
i found this great tut by oopsey daisy..
and it's got great advice about not using small images etc....
so go find yourself a dingbat and get some fabric and wonderunder and make yourself a shirt..or two
or 354.
okay..next week we are going to be talking about alternatives to scal...since it's not available for cricut lovers anymore!
let me know if you have an questions!!!!!
OMG. Just add this to my Pinterest obsession and I'll never get off the computer!
ReplyDeleteYay! Alternatives to scal next week, I can't wait! Maybe I can get over my jealously then :)
ReplyDeleteI'm also looking forward to the alternatives to scal post next week. I've had my Cricut for almost 2 years and just pulled it out to use it for the first time in August. *gasp* My parents bought it for me and I had no clue what it was, lol. NOW though...now I am addicted! And I just found out about scal last month...I was excited until I read that it's unavailable now. So, yeah, like TracyS....I can't WAIT for your post next week!!! =)
ReplyDeleteWow! Thanks so much for the stache tutorial! My son will be in stache heaven! By the way, you all look simply mauvelous in your staches. :)
