not that i like beating a dead horse.....but i'mgunna. cause i got another lantern today. (and one tomorrow) and an idea and stuff for two more. when it rains...it pours.
I went to the dollar store....
and saw this...and thought i could cover up this previous lantern with it...
I folded the crepe paper in half and rolled them into little rosettes.
roll and wrap and roll and wrap and sealed the end with a little hot glue....
i covered up my heart with them.....
then i got a little rosette crazy and covered the top and bottom with them....
I got it finished...
see...it's cute on it's own...
but in the arrangement it was too dark ...and when it twirls around you can't really see the heart...just half of it...
and it annoyed me......
so i started making more rosettes...
and more hot glue
and covered the whole stinking thing
(i watched scooby doo and the lock ness monster and the real housewives of beverly hills to finish it)
and then i might have spray painted it.....just to lighten it up a little bit!!!!
i had a question about how i hang them up...i just use
you'll notice in this picture that the thumbtacks aren't too noticeable...
I actually just posted on my blog about some rosette balls I made using the crepe paper for my mom's birthday party...going to give them a little makeover soon for Halloween though ;) Love all the different lanterns you have made for your daughter's room...so very cute!
ReplyDeleteI love you for watching Scooby Doo. I think I've seen all the movies.
ReplyDeleteAnd, teach me how to do those rosettes? I tried last year. EPIC FAIL.
It's not a fire hazard to have all that paper near the light bulb that may or may not get hot?
ReplyDeletenope! none of them are close enough..they are all about 4 inches below the plate (although from the angles of some pictures they may look closer)...and the plate doesn't get hot enough! i can touch it after the light has been on for awhile!
ReplyDeleteI think it looks awesome! You totally rock at making lanterns of ALL kinds. :)
ReplyDeleteThis is my favorite! I freakin' love rosettes!
ReplyDeleteI love this. You re-started my paper doily love again last week. I have started a hot air ballon and a blog, would really appreciate if you would check both out sometime. There is another blog doing Blogging 101 on Wednesday's so maybe I will get better at that. Anyway I love your blog and your paper lanterns.
ReplyDeleteAdorable! You have so inspired me to do this in my daughter's room! Also, thanks for answering the question about hanging them. I was thinking it was going to be something difficult and permanent that my land lord wouldn't approve of. Thumb tacks! Brilliant!
ReplyDeleteThat is damn adorable!!!! no other way to describe it sorry!
ReplyDeleteLove , love , love your lanterns! How long were the strips of crepe paper you used for each rosette??
