so let's pretend that this is not a belated valentines day....but a cute "everydays outfit."
the secret that makes this ADORABLE!!!!!!
for the shirt: felt...trace out heart shape and cut.
square of ruffly fabric
now...let's pretend that I didn't forget to take a picture of the heart cut out. then I cut out a heart inside of that one to make like a frame. and I hot glued it onto the ruffles.
then I took another piece of felt and hot glued it the back...
then I cut out the heart shape..
see my two layer with the ruffles in between?
then I snipped off a row of ruffles and hot glued them between the felt pieces..
oh..so cute.
then I threw in a skirt (I shall call this the 5 min skirt.)
I measured my daughter...and cut accordingly.
(she was 20 by 7 inches...so I cut 26 by 8 1/2)
sewed the short sides together
(have to be careful that all the ruffles are in the direction they are supposed to be going as you sew...the really only HARD part...and it's not really hard!)
then I pinned over the top for the elastic..
see the ruffle at the top? Its the one underneath...just make sure when you sew not to get any of the ruffles in the way of the needle.
put in some elastic
sew it together...and then sew your opening closed!!!
and I did nothing to the hem....ruffle fabric doesn't fray so I just let it be!
then i snipped off a ruffle and glued it around a circle of felt..
and added a button
AND THIS IS WHY I GOT THE PICTURE OF THE DRESS ON THE HANGER!!!!
these are not the shoes I let her wear...just fyi.
oh so cute!!!!!

very very cute! Any little girl would love to wear that, an adult on the other hand might look a little silly...lol
ReplyDeleteSorry, that thought just came to me - picturing me in that outfit strolling about the city...lol
Let's keep it on the children, if my daughter had it I would have to fight her to take it off!

I think that I need to make some kind of purse out of the ruffled fabric! I am going to look for it the next time I am in Joanne's!
