satiny hair crap

I had this pink satin left over from my sleep mask....

and it was just about 12 inches by 5 inches...so it was the perfect size for a headband!

I cut out a load of circles...starting big and gradually getting smaller...

then i took my lighter and lightly melted the edges...

i'm not close at all.....my hand is behing it about an inch or so...this picture is deceiving!
if you hold it buy it long enough..it will get hot and start to curl....

when they are all sealed I hot glued the centers.

a dob and then I added another circle...

then I hot glued a little bead in the middle

you see the marks were I got a little tooo close with my lighter...which it's easy to snip off and smooth out the circle...I happen to like it..so I left it.

I made ANOTHER braided headband (a double this time...thanks mandy!!!!) and then hot glued the flower on top!

added some felt on the back!

for another satiny twist....
I cut out a flower shape and melted the edges....

and added a hot glue dot to the middle of the flower.
the I folded it in half and opened it...then folded it in half the other way...then pushed the two together...

so the center makes a T

(yes, I found my flash!)

I pinch the bottom until the glue sets

when they are all done....I start hot gluing the bottoms all together

then I took an elastic headband (which I bought precisely 8 years ago...and have worn approcximeltly 3 times...(and they came in a set of 5)

hot glue it...

and covered with felt...

now..I'm going to take a brief moment to show you in pictures why I have my OLDEST daughter model and not my 2 year old

(and mind you..these are the BEST ones out of 28)

and that is choc pudding on her face.

yes..she is picking her nose.

then she readjusted it...

and I readjusted it back....

  1. I just told my mom about your blog today. Love it, makes me wish we were roomies again. I love the satin bows. I've found if you run a lighter under each petal it gives more texture and wave to the flower as a whole. I love your second flower, I haven't gotten that creative but now will try and copy! Keep up the awesome work.
