what i've been doing....

i've had menu boards coming out my EARS.

and I just got 3 more orders!~ah!

minnie already sold! sorry. she's was to hot to trot!

oh sorry...batman just sold too..

i've got a thomas the train and a few girl ones I'm going to be adding (hopefully) later today!

and some more animal scarfs

i got This cute skirt at the D.I. and had to adorn a white shirt (also purchased at the D.I.) to match...
(it will be a christmas present for my daughter..)

and don't judge me..i'll iron it. (okay, probably throw it into the dryer with wet towel...same thing.)

I "borrowed" this cute idea from Make it and LOVE it!

and yes, we all can't have the greatness that is ashley...I've accepted it...move on.

More prayer pillowcases for the kids at church (read here)

I made some teeeeny tiny baby braclets

and a bunch of potato bags for my mother...

read HERE if you missed the tutorial...or if you are totally wondering what the H is a potato bag..
and then since I had fabric leftover...I made some keychains to match...cause your potato bag and keychain must match. clinton and stacy say so.

i've been making rice bags for friends of a friend.
i've also been using rice bags. I heat one up and put my feet on it while I craft....cause the weather is sooo cold.....
it keeps snowing and snowing....which is pretty...until you have to go out and freeze..and when it starts turning pooh brown...not the greatest christmas sight. I love ONE thing about the snow.....it's the way the sky turns purpley at nighttime. BEAUTIFUL

I've also been doing LOADS of this....
I only have 4 things left...
a gift for my husband
a gift for my dad
a gift for my father in law
a gift for my brother in law.

not so good with the men. I've tried to think of something I could make them...not sure they would REALLy appreciate a crafty present from me...nor do I have the time!
any suggestions?

  1. Are they fleecy kinda guys? 'cause fleece throws are always nice! Trust me... at least at my house they are. (aside from the dog, I'm the only female in our house.. the guys range in age from 11 to 40.) Umm what about eats? Food is always well appreciated by guys. a sweet/spicy nut mix, party mix, homemade caramels, homemade coffee/mocha/chai tea mix with homemade marshmallows, homemade beef jerky, meringue mushrooms.... And you could make a jar that said "Fill eat enjoy repeat" and then include a certificate to return and refill each month. (when doing something like that I like to fill it with something they like but is pretty easy to make up. or that I can hide in the freezer!)

    Good luck!

  6. I have two son-in-laws who are so practical..last year I bought them a cart on wheels so they can put their garbage cans on them and wheel them out to the street..
    THey were a big hit~!
This year I bought them the crooked handled snow shovels.. I bought one last year for myself and I just love mine. After using a snow shovel like this you will never use a straight handled one ever again.
For thier birthdays I got them each gas cards.. Oh that was a good one, they loved them and thanked me over and over.

  8. Men can be very difficult. I altered a fish tackle box and put my hubbys favorite candies in it for Father's Day. He loved it.

  9. I found that the men in our family love "dine-out certificate's". My dad is a Captain D's man so that is what he gets along with a remote control holder that I made to hang on the side of his recliner. (we are doing at least one homemade gift this year) My brother and nephew love subway so that is the certificate they are getting along with their homemade gifts (my brother a set of H/M coasters and my nephew a bulliten board for his room).

  10. You can make them ties! there are some super easy patterns out there. Not too hard.... and home made! if they aren't the tie wearing type... then I have no clue!

  11. We are having a heck of a time making one of those menu boards. I finally got my acrylic calendar sheets from Oriental Trading, which, by the way, are 11.5" x 11.5" and not 12x12! So, they fall right out of the frame. We tacked the corners of it to the paper with with that roll on scrapbooking adhesive. We bought Krylon magnetic spray primer, which has absolutely zero magnetic hold. Thinking about just using metal sheeting as a backer, but then the frame won't be magnetic. Ughh...wish we had just bought the magnetic primer you use instead of the spray one. Maybe we would have had some success!

  13. Ideas for the guys - if you want to make something (with what time?!) you could do pj pants. You could make a case for their glasses, ipod, or laptop. If they are handy guys, maybe a set of containers for their nails, screws, etc. Are they golfers? You could make club covers. Fleece blankets to take to the game are always a great idea. (My husband LOVES the one that was made for him!) Just remember to make it BIG so their lady can snuggle under there with them. :) Or a seat cushion to take to the game.

If making something is just not going to happen, then maybe a subscription to their favorite magazine, paper, journal, or talk radio program. You can even buy subscriptions so they can watch their favorite sports teams on the computer if they aren't a local team.

    Good luck!
