looks kind weird right?
how about this:
aaahhh...makes a little more sense right?
Took a piece of wood
had my son lay down so you can see how big it was
(he's dead.)
Now I wanted to wrap it in fabric...but I didn't have anything in my stash that I loved...and Joanns new store wasn't open yet...so I just took all my black and white scraps and pieced them together...
layed it out first to pick a layout I liked...
I sewed them on piece by piece
and trimmed my scraps....
and ironed them flat!
cut it in 7 inch pieces ( I don't remember what this is called...like belt material...it was at Joanns...it will come to me)
melted the edges to prevent fraying
measure and pinned them on (they are about 9 inches apart)
when I laid this out...I thought hum....I could just reinforce this fabric and make a fabric hanging one...but the board was sitting there....so I used it!
Then I used my sewing machine to sew on the material that I can't think of the name and then I hand stiched the sew on snaps ( I really need a snap setter!)
I only sewed the mystery fabric half way on...
I added a button for looks...and wrapped the board using hot glue, spray adhesive and gorilla glue...I wanted to be safe...not sorry!
Then I took one of these
and nailed it to the back!
and hung it to the wall (disclaimer: I have been waiting for a sunny day to get decent pictures...but guess what? Nov sucks. No sun. So not the best pictures! Take it or leave it!
My kids posing so you can see how big it is! (okay..they just wanted to get their picture taken...not big smilers...)
I think this would go great on the inside of a closet door...you just unsnap the purse you want...fill it with your essentials and go.
and if you are truly ambitious and want to make your own purse to hang on the board....
A lemon squeezy home had a purse linky party...so if you are looking to make some awesome purses....check there! She a had a whole purse week...some of the great stuff was:
(from noodlehead)
(from create and delegate)
and I loved this one from Sew a straight line: (okay, and I loved the shoes!)

ReplyDeleteGreat idea! I might have to try this for my daughter. I am the one purse wonder like you. I hate changing out purses but I LOVE to make purses - go figure.
ReplyDeleteMYSTERY WORD = WEBBING. :D
This is cute and a great organization idea. I am featuring this at somedaycrafts.blogspot.com.
ReplyDeleteI have to make this! I'm going to try just fanric and a loop at the top and hang it on one of those cheap over the door hangers. Also, it won't be very pretty because its going to be inside of a closet wirh all of my husbands ugly backpacks on it.
