for the bond....james bond...(wannabe)

remember all those ugly ties my husband had that I used to make frenchy?

I have been wanting to make my son a bowtie...to make him look especially handsome for church! and maybe a few christmas parties!

I took another tie...and made a no-sew bow tie. Hot glued only!

This is his, "I'm to sexy for the bow tie " look...okay actually it's his..."I can't keep my eyes open with that flash" look!
I unstitched the tie... and measured around my sons neck and cut off the skinny part of the tie (mine was about 14 inches)

Then I took out the white stuff (interfacing)
and hot glued it back together

then folded it up

and hot glued it into place

Then I took another strip and hot glued the sides up on that one.

one side..then I hot glued the other one.
Then I took the piece that I had previously made

and hot glued the strip to the back...then wrapped it around the front and pulled it tight..then hot glued the other side on.

makes a bow...then I attached it to the end of 14 inch strip I had cut off.

see...nice bow?!

back view:

Added a strip of velcro...

the opposite end of the bow --

.
I folded back the tie and cut off about an inch and half of the interfacing
then I folded down the edges and hot glued.

then glued the sides together.

Then I added a strip of velcro to that end.

(I made the velcro piece a little longer....I want him to be able to wear it for a few years....
(and I might have cut the strip too short and had to do a patch work....that's why this piece doesn't really match up!)

there you have it....a whole bow tie...with not a stitch of sewing...

so (not sew) adorable. West...Kaje West. Ready to hit the holiday parties!

and I also found this great tutorial to turn your husbands tie into your son's tie...at craft envy
and you just need minimal sewing skills to accomplish the task!

  8. I can't believe you did that without sewing a stitch! How did you not burn your fingers off?

I love how it turned out and really want to make my boys bow ties...hopefully my husband won't mind me raiding his tie rack!
