aren't these trick or treat topiaries the bomb (by crafty sisters)
but alas...I am taking more along the lines of this:
oh allergies. You are the bane of my existence...along with laundry. and dishes....and most other household chores...don't get me started on the toilets.
I hate them.
And they just hit.
I was laying on my porch swing with a wash cloth on my head trying to shrink it back down to size...and realized...hello, I craft...why am I ruining my makeup with the washcloth when I can sew something to help me.
and this was Made
very quickly....so I could go lay back down.
I cut out a design on paper first...which is something I NEVER do....(so you can tell my head was all clogged up)
cut out a front and a back (my back was fuzzy and soft)
i had originally bought this for some more crayon rolls...bu this was a MUCH bigger pressing need.
you know the drill....right sides together...sew around leave an opening.
I notched out all around the mask so when you turn it right side out it lies flatter.
turn it right sides out
I sewed all around the edge (leave opening) and then I sewed two eye shapes (I'm putting beans in this and I didn't want all the cold on my eyelids)
took some navy beans (that aren't navy..they are more cream) why navy beans? cause that's what I had...pretty sure you can use rice or any other kind of *dry* bean.
filled it full and sewed it up....You could add some elastic or some ribbon so you can tie it around your head...I just wanted to lay mine on my face.
pop in the freezer.
back view:
now excuse the picture....but along with being that time of the year...it's also THAT time of the month...so my face has acne....cause apparently I am still 14 years old.
So cute! My daughter would love these!

ReplyDeleteI love this! I made a smaller one for my husband who gets migranes but love the eyeball part on yours....come link up thursday to my link party at terelauritsen.blogspot
ReplyDeleteI love the picture of you laying on the floor smiling through all your troubles. What a tremendous idea and I'm sure many allergy sufferers will want to make some. I do hope the season is over quickly and everyone can be feeling much better for the upcoming holidays. Lots of crafting to do.
ReplyDeleteI was told by my grandfather that navy beans were served on the US NAVY ships and that is why they are called navy beans. Not 100% sure if accurate, but it sounded good to me :)
ReplyDeletethe halloween stuff is way too cute & love that mask!!
ReplyDeleteThese are darling! I made one several years ago and used rice and dried lavender to fill it. I can put it in the microwave and heat it up (great for bath nights!) or throw it in the freezer to cool me off. You will love yours and I still use mine to this day!
