fabric covered compositon books

I bought all these great comp books (on sale for 25 cents a piece.

Going to cover them in fabric...thought I had better do it Glue gun style

measured the lazy woman way.

did the outside edge first...stream of hot glue...fold over fabric
Do other side to make sure fabric is taut just not too tight or the covers won't stay closed

shot some hot glue around the edge

this is what it should look like

cut a slit right at the middle (on top and on bottom

glue up that edge

for the corner I just fold a triangle piece down in the corner and hot glue it into place

cut out a piece to cover the inside of the covers..hot glue in place (hopefully you won't need all that info they put on the covers

took a rectangle and hot glued the edges...so it was finished on both sides

hot glue it the middle of the back cover.
Added some velcro

Added a ruffle (hot glued of course)

hot glued the edges and then just gathered it and hot glued it into place

made a flower

just hot glue into creases

added a button with some fabric hot glued over it.

super fast.

question?

does anyone know what TTYL or BRB means?

Also...I kinda liked the black and white look...just glammed it up a bit using stamps

Can you tell I have teens who text? Plus some of these have been around since I was a kid... sad but true. Back in the day when we passed notes, actually written on paper.

Love the covered composition books though. Thanks for the great idea!

  3. I am planning to cover an art journal for my daughter and this is a good technique for it because it really doesn't need to ever come off.

  9. Yeah... I was going to answer about TTYL & BRB... I'm a little embarrassed that I know because my kids are all too young for texting!

  14. I'm slow, but have you heard the joke about the blond?
She asks her friend what "IDK" stands for.
the brunette says: I don't know.
The blond says: Oh my Gosh, NOBODY knows!

:) Cute projects. I hugely stock up on those $.25 notebooks.

  16. I did something similar - only with Mod Podge. The velcro fastener is a nice touch. What I want to know is: how come crayons and composition notebooks can't be this price year-round? I stocked up but I'm busting at the seams over here!
