How to fix a Bleach spot.

I don't know how...but it happened. A bleach spot right on the front of my daughters shirt. So mad. I am so not going to throw out a perfectly good shirt. I am SO going to turn it into something cute. So, I got out my bleach and made more of a mess.
I used a paint brush....but I think a number of things would have worked.....and I kinda just went at it.

Make sure you put a cutting board in between. You don't want it leaking onto the other side. And make sure you are working on a safe surface...this is bleach after all. It spread a little more than I had originally planned...but I think it turned out fine. If you were trying to do something a little more detailed it might be a little harder. (I've got a red shirt up in my sons closet that is going to be a guinea pig)
I rinsed it in my sink when I was done just to prevent any bleeding and then I washed it.

And I couldn't just stop there.

I added a few buttons.

I can't even tell you how much fun I had! I want to have all the kids decorate their own at my daughters birthday party!

Aren't these cute? Jamee at Homemaker made this shirts for her kids. She just layed a stencil down and sprayed them with bleach.  For step by step click Here. I think they would be such a cute and easy idea for a family reunion.

And this one was done with a bleach pen. This one can be found here at I am momma hear me roar.  Don't you love the name!

  4. My favorite shirt.
    Time of death: today.
Cause of death: accidental bleach splash.

I googled "upcycle shirt bleach spots" and the link to your blog post was number 5 or so on the 1st page. And as always, you have provided me with the perfect solution!

  5. This is a rrally great and cute idea. I know I've ruined a few things that I can do this with. One thing though...you should always neutralize your bleach spots afterwards with something like hydrogen peroxide so it doesn't continue to eat away at the fabric and make a hole.
