burlap wreath

so i'm not inventing the wheel here....
but it is round
and looks like a burlap wheel...

backstory: our church was having it's super saturday (the best craft day known to man)
and we had some labor (sewing) instensive projects already on the agenda.
so I was trying to come up with some easy project that looks dynamite but doesn't need a "babysitter"

and that is where the burlap wreath comes in. super easy to do. (super.) super pretty (super super)
and you can do 1000 things with it (although i'm not showing you a 1000....)

i bought this 9 inch wreath at the dollar store and it took a little less than a yard of burlap (which if you use your joanns coupon you can are under $5 for this project!)

cut loads of strips...mine were about 2 inches by  9 inchesish.

then you just tie around your wreath form..... (the bigger one i snagged at the thrift store...but they aren't too much at walmart!)
you tie and tie and tie...and then push all those knots together until they are stinking tight. the fuller the better
back side view:
and if you have never worked with burlap:
WARNING: messy.

I got half done and thought it looked good...

bu then i finished and liked it even better....

you can add bows....

or a  banner

you can really make it go with any holiday....fall (thanksgiving)
(this happy thanksgiving sign was found in the dollar deals at joanns!)

christmas:

remember mandy's wire words? that noel would be so pretty across this wreath!

winter (you could add a bunch of snow flakes!)

valentines day....

I wanted to add a chalkboard to the red one so i could write messages on it...but of course..couldnt' find one....

and of course...they look pretty just as is...
or you can double them up....

  3. Both of your wreaths are so cute! Thanks for the little shout out to mine. I just made myself another one for Christmas too. Do you think it is our love of potatoes in Idaho that makes burlap so appealing?

  4. Great wreath variations! Best part is your front door looks EXACTLY like mine, so I already know how it would look! :) Awesome as usual!
