who is this joann and how can I meet her?

I was cruising through Idaho Falls....and saw a Hancock fabric...right next to a Michaels....down the street from a Roberts....and over yonder from a Joanns. and maybe a stone's throw from Sierras.....

So, here's my question...who are all these people...and how did they get great craft stores named after them? I mean to get an entire craft store after you..you think you would be pretty darn crafty--am I right or am I right?

(yes, I know there is a hobby lobby....but to prove a point...I'm going to selectively omit it okay?)

and here is another question Why doesn't Martha stewart have her own craft store...I mean she has a brand out AT the craft stores (and walmart and k-mart) but if anyone deserves her own craft store it's this lady
(I have even thought that she could pick her "good thing" for the week and it could be on sale....and yes, I know I have given this much too much thought)

and this is where I would tell you that if I had a craft store I would call it "craft crap"  (tm)* or something similar....but then I remember my blog address..

I'll wait a minute for you to look up at it.

yeah, it's kimboscrafts...so maybe it's just second nature to name things after yourself.

anyways, here is the real reason I am writing,

Dear JoAnn (where ever you may be)
I love you.
I want to thank you for the 40% off coupons....
and for the proximity of your new store to my home....
and I think we could be friends.

love,
kimbo

*did you get the movie reference with tm?
here's a hint

okay, if you can't get it from that hint...we might not be friends (except for Joann...and Martha...we could totally be friends still)

(and I am not happy to report that we passed all these great craft stores and my husband refused to stop.....it was a sad day)

  1. lol...I've often wondered about MS having her own store. I mean she could call it "Good Things" to go along with your good things of the week specials. I love Joannes too...I mean I've even considered quitting my job and surrendering my weekends JUST TO WORK THERE...but then I thought I probably wouldn't love it as much - but now I wonder how much the employee discount would be...hmmmm...oh, and if you open Kimbo Crafts in MI I will happily work as the store manager :)

  3. Maybe you could write a letter suggesting this to Martha and she would fall in love with it and hire you to be her craft expert on staff. Wouldn't that be aweome!

  4. Hey...I want my own craft store! I think I have enough STUFF in my craft room to start one in my house...but then I would have to organize it and make it look pretty ....nevermind! I will keep collecting the coupons for Joann's, Michael's, Hobby Lobby and go get more STUFF! I love reading your blog...it brightens my day to know I am not alone in this crazy world of crafting!

  6. I couldn't agree more.. We are seriously in need to a Martha store! I'd love to say, "I'll meet you at Martha's!" or "I'm heading to Martha's!" It just has such a ring, doesn't it?!

  7. Just on a side note. Hobby Lobby was originally started as a custom frame shop and grew into what it is today. It all started with one family, and he is still the owner today. He wrote a book about it.

  8. I work for Joanns in Utah and there actually never was a person named Jo-ann. No one really knows where the name came from.

p.s. I absolutely love, love, LOVE your blog and am an avid follower. You have so many inspiring crafts and a great sense of humor!
