It's not the family tree I painted:
but IT is a CLOSE second!
It is my bedroom wall.
We have a ledge that goes around our room...so we couldn't put up a headboard. And we had a giant wall to fill.
You have to excuse the pictures...Our bedroom is in the basement...so very very dark.
I was trying to see how steady my hand was--harder than i thought to write with a paint brush. Most of my frames were old.....bought some at walmart for another project that I changed my mind about. THen when I came up with this plan I ran to the dollar store and bought a few more.
They all got a shot of brown spray paint
and filled with my fav pictures.
I layed them all out until I liked them and took a picutre with my camera just in case I forgot! then I just hammered and stuck them up there. (I wish I was the type that would measure it out and use pieces of paper the size of the frame and tape them up to make sure it looks all right....but that just ain't me!)
Thre are two things we should give our children, ONe is roots...the other is wings.
I love this! Especially since the photos are all something tha means a lot to you.
ReplyDeleteDid it take you a while to lay them all out ?
Love it!! Very cute! I do the same thing.. I get my boyfriend to hold them up on the wall until I like it then I tell him to stand there and let me hang it!! LOL
ReplyDeleteI realy love this idea! I have tons of pictures too that i could hang! i think I'm gonna steal it!!! THanks
ReplyDeleteI adore that family tree. . .so cute!
ReplyDeleteI'm in love with the tree. Please don't tell me free-handed it.
ReplyDeleteOkay, tell me.
Did you?!?!
Your favorite wall is very pretty but I must say my favorite wall is the family tree wall. You had courage to paint something that big on a wall by the stairs. Looking forward to your next post. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteI do not have a wall I love and I'm always looking for inspiration for hanging pictures! Question: I tried doing a bunch of frames with white spray paint last year and it just didn't seem to be working out. I ended up using some leftover latex paint which was a big, messy pain! How do you get great coverage with spray paint? Did it take more than one can to do all these frames? Thanks!
ReplyDeleteLove your family tree!
Heather
That sounds like me! I hate to measure too. I usually end up with tons of holes in the wall behind all the pictures.
ReplyDeleteI actually did do the template thing for my kids' art wall, though (you can see it here: http://theperfectlyimperfectlife.blogspot.com/2010/05/art-wall-tips.html). The prep work nearly killed me, but in the end I was glad I did it.
Very very pretty! I LOVE your tree wall VERY much. I hope to copy you someday (when we have a house of our own).
ReplyDeleteCute wall. Lovely and personal. Well done.
