kitchen redo!

so...i've slowly been redoing the kitchen...(you can go HERE to see how far i've gotten)

anyways...i was left with a lot of above the counter space that bugged me..

and i really did not know WHAT i was going to do with it....

until this caught my eye....
now..i'm about to overwhelm you with trends..
i love chevron
and i love ombre....

so let's do both!!!!!

i got this awesome chevron stencil sent to me from the awesome royal design studios...(i used awesome twice in that sentence. YOU KNOW I'm serious about this company)

I started with some dutch boy refresh paint in bright white....(you can go here to read more about it!)
i love these guys for two reasons
a. love those twist and pour lids....
and b.
refresh..in a kitchen. it's a must. i WILL Not tell you how completely gross above my cabinets were (so gross) grease and grime and refresh is a MUST!

and armed with my purdy rollers (which i talked about HERE)
i gave myself a nice stark canvas (it's amazing what a clean white can do for you house. it's AMAZEing to see how much it lightens up...and my wall color before wasn't even dark!

this is after one coat.....

the white rolled on so nice only took two coats!

after it was all dry i took my chevron stencil and my dutch boy paint in fresh mint (that's the color that is below my cabinets and on my wall opposite this)
now..i took a couple paper plates and left one with the regular fresh mint blue....and then on the next one i poured a little white...and the next a little more white...and the next a little more white......then i mixed them all up so i had 4 different shades (well one regular and three lighter shades)
then i started rolling on the paint.

and are you ready to see the big finale?
(disclaimer...horrible lighting and its been overcast all week. as soon as i get a sunshiney day i will be taking new pictures!)

need to get more spray paint to finish the EAT.

my cabinets need a makeover...that i won't do. WAAAAYY too much work!

if you have never used stencils before..YOU SHOULD. they are really stinking easy...they match up...so you paint...then move it over and match up the spots and keep painting. pretty idiot proof.... here are a couple more that i totally love:
you can check them out HERE

and dutch boy is having a  Restore My Decor sweepstakes--
there's only a week left to win a $5,000 room makeover from interior designer Lisa LaPorta!
