the girl flannel blanket

so. i made this cute flannel blanket...for a boy (go HERE)

and i totally wanted to do a girl version.

and when joanns pulled out their new plaiditude line...
and this little plaid number was in it..

i knew i hit plaid pay dirt.

and luckily 9 months ago everyone was mating with their mates...cause ladies and gentlmens...mostly ladies...babies are popping out left and right.
i wanted to add a little something more than just the plaid with a back...so I trimmed off the edges...
i marked each side with pins so i knew which side went where...

then i trimmed off a 2 1/2 inch piece and replaced with orange!

pin and sew...
close up of corners:
then i matched up the sides and sewed them back on (they are all different sizes so it's pretty important!)
pin and sew...
(i was dying like adding color to some cloth...without gloves the same day....in case you were wondering if i was turning into a zombie or a smurf...) then i just lay it on my pink cuddle fabric... (i always buy it bigger so i can just wrap up the edges and use it as binding...)

it's so fun and bright and colorful and soft and i totally wanted to steal a baby to make this blanket look even cuter!

i also took the scraps to make a birp cloth cause what else do you do with strips of plaid?

  7. Very cute! I love the idea of using the cuddle fabric as the binding, seems to make it so much easier.
