a superhero

I know what you are thinking....
what the crap kinda superhero is this?!
i'm not sure if you know this about me...but i belong to THIS church...and up until literally last sunday, i was the second counselor in the primary (the kids ages 3-11)
(my new calling is young woman's pres....heaven help us all.)

anyways...I had one lesson left...(I knew it was my last even if no else did) I wanted something fun and that got my point across....
So i came up with Captain Testimony.

Now,  you might be wondering why i'm showing you him.
cause
a. i think he's adorable.
and b. you can adapt this idea many a ways...it's not just a church thing.

First the how tos: i painted the superhero on posterboard...but you could easily find a good clipart out there if don't want to free hand...
then i cut a hole and hot glued some pantyhose around the opening.

(i have to say that i was SHOCKED to find this pantyhose in my drawer. i have not worn these in probably..ever. i'm sure my mom bought them for me 10 years ago.)

Then you blow up balloons.....
And here's how you "play"
I explained to the kids that just like our muscles, our testimonies need to grow...and poor captain testimony needs to grow his testimony/muscles.

so the kids thought of ways that help us grow
ie: go to church
read scriptures
be nice
etc...
and they got to shove a balloon down the pantyhose to make mr. t all hot and muscularly

now you could make this like a good deed incentive...for every kind thing your kid does they could put in a balloon and when the superhero is full they get a prize or a treat or what have you...

or when they get their chores done....or a countdown to a birthday...multitude of ways...
you could even add panty hose legs if you wanted more balloons to stuff...

disclaimer: the balloons were bigger...it was a couple days before i got around to taking pictures so they lost some air...

anyways...just wanted to share..and now i'm off to find me a good young woman blog to stalk/steal ideas from.

  4. Umm...pretty sure you can just copy everything that your mom is doing. Same calling right? I was just released from YW President a few months ago...and less than fifteen minutes later was in the RS pres. Wouldn't a break be nice?

You'll do great. I love Captain Testimony...very clever.
