limber kimber

you know...when it rains..it pours.. for example: the day my water heater went out (like i found a mini swimming pool in my laundry room (luckily i rent...so no harm to me..)
except when i went to move all my craft crap out of the way and dropped my gallon of kitchen paint on the floor (i had already used it so it was half gone luckily) i literally got my hands in and scooped it up as FAST as possible..

and when it was all cleaned up...
i looked down and found...
paint pants. on my most favoritest yoga pants.

and no i don't do yoga. limber kimber became a nickname more for the reason that it rhymed than anything else.

but i did go to the gym in them...and they were awesome and didn't shrink into high waters when washed..and they made my bum look bumalicious. (old navy)

so i was bummed (Not licious...just bummed)

AND I thought to myself. be resourceful....

so i grabbed my freezer paper.

and got on my cameo...and made a stencil and fancied them up a bit...

(let me tell you how bad i wanted to put agaagg down the side...SO BAD) but i didn't want to be vain...and i didn't want to get stopped by people at the gym asking what the crap agaagg was...to which i would reply, "the sound i make when i throw up after i work out to hard at the gym)
ironed it on
(break: if you have never tried freezer paper stencil...you are missing out. its easy..and super fun....kids would love it.
you just take freezer paper...cut out a design (free hand if you want) and iron it shiny side down on the chosen article of clothing. then iron makes it stick...basically like a big sticker. you paint in your design and then peel off the paper when done!)

i used tulip fabric paint....it's the best..it will make it feel unstiff

mixed it with white and went to town...i wanted it a bit distressed so it's darker in some and lighter in some...then i splattered it with more blue paint (to match the already splattered marks)

then i added pink

i then decided to add some little splash of color on the other leg
and now i can go back to the gym without looking like i dropped some blue crap on my leg!!!!!

so if you drop some paint on some clothes...don't throw them out! just upcycle them!

  2. I like it! Did you ever have a paint splatter looking shirt when you were younger? These are so much cooler!

  3. Very creative! And for the future, rubbing alcohol will take the paint out. It will require a bit of scrubbing but it will come out.

  6. I must admit that is the cutest stenciled pants I have ever seen!

Typically when I see the shorts or pants with words stenciled on them (like juicy/ sexy/ hottie) I roll my eyes so hard I am surprised they haven't stuck and I make the agaagg sound.

    Very creative!!

  7. So very cute. I would have been at a loss. Next time though, if there is a next time, you could try using alcohol. I leaned up against a freshly painted wall in my favorite sweater and with careful blotting of alcohol repeated over and over again I got all the paint out! But then again, your now painted pant is much cuter than just plain yoga pants. LOVE them.

  11. What a great idea, I've thrown out at least two joggers because of that! p.s. a little disappointed we didn't get a bumalicious shot!

  13. Oh man, I lol'd so much when you made the agaagg joke after working out... hahaha!

On another note, I love your blog!! You are funny, creative, hard working, and you seem so down to earth... seems like so many other craft bloggers try to go all Martha Stewart (not the convict Martha but the Perfect Martha). Keep doing what you are doing, you're awesome!
