random fact number 678. My best friend in high school was named lacey
so while patrolling through blog land... i came across this tutorial.... and immediatly decided that lace is one of my favortiest things. like chevron. ruffles. pink. chocolate. hot glue. polka dots. just somethings that makes me instantly happy... and i thought i have got to make me one. and justsohappens i had this blue shirt in my take back to the store pile. i just couldn't justify spending $8 on a plain shirt..when i literally have a drawer full....so i was going to take it back. BUT instead i want to joanns and bought a yard and half of pretty lace....
since it was straight on one side i decided to do two strips...(and that 1 1/2 was perfect.i literally had like 2 inches left)
(so i guess it wasn't perfect. i yard and 16 inches would have been perfect.)
lined them up..
pinned them on..
(the ends were tucked underneath and sewed so no raw edges were visible from the front!)
and sewed. i sewed along the stright and the curved side (4 times total)
another reason to love lace...you can't see your mistakes (aka stitches)you could also do one BIG lace strip down the middle like THIS one
and fyi..mossimo boyfriend t at target. best shirts ever.
or how about replacing the sleeves with lace like THIS
there is also this tutorial that i will do sooner than later!
and check out these adorable lace belts.
or this beautiful scarf
lace is my new best friend..
Thank you very much! I like it!

thanks for the lace zipper shout out! Speaking of lace, oddly enough I had just cut out an image from a magazine for inspiration on a gorgeous little lace dress - was thinking of tackling it this week or next. You may have just given me the right nudge :).
ReplyDeleteLove your shirt, and those belts!
I have two new plain shirts that I feel need *something*. Lace might be the answer!
ReplyDeleteI have a question though. For people (me) who don't have a sewing machine, are there any other products I can get to attach lace to a tshirt? I usually rely on iron-on hem tape but I know that'll show through the lace.
I love lace too! Thanks again for sharing this tutorial with our readers! I'll have you know that post received the second highest page views on our blog ever... :) SO THANKS for that girl!!!!
