but first:
i was instant messaging my old college roomie (i would insert embarrassing picture of us in college here but it's downstairs.....and i'm upstairs.
and i'm lazy.
but she is an avid book reader. and you see..i used to love books. i have let it fall to the wayside though cause i've been crafting with all my spare time.
but i want to start reading again! so i asked her what book she recommends....and she tells me she read this one in two days and loved it...
and then i got to thinking...if i have limited time..i'm going to ask people what there favorites books are..pin them on pinterest and slowly wade through them.
and i did.
and i even got a nice unexpected surprise. people comment which ones they loved on my pins!
what i'm very slowly getting to is TELL ME YOUR FAVORIEST BOOK!!!!! Here's the link to my pinterest board if you want to check out people's favorites thus far....or leave a comment if you have read one and loved it..
i HAVE read hunger games (so excited for the movie)
twilight
the host
every mary higgins clark
every john grisham
every stephanie plum.
i also have a very strict rule about movies from books. i refuse to watch the movie before i read the book...and then i usually HATE the movie cause it doesn't follow the book accuretly. but i hate watching a movie and then reading the a book and not being able to visualize the characters from my imagination and all i can see is reese witherspoon and the twilight dude (who looks so much better non-pale)
okay. back to the show...
these hearts are about the easiest things to make...it's a fantastic way to use up your scraps...
and they use a glue gun! yipee!!!!
so grab all your fun colored fabric or scraps...
you will also need some sticks (i'm using skewers that i got at walmart for a dollar)
fold fabric in half and cut out two hearts...(by folding it in half you get two exact same hearts!)
on the wrong side of one you are going to put a stream of hot glue around the edge (except the bottom)
place other heart on top so wrong sides are together and press around the edges until glue dries...
open up the bottom and stuff it with scraps (or stuffing)
y
when it's all full stick in your skewer and hot glue the opening closed.
and that's it! super easy!
so tomorrow is the tutorial for the more and less print....
and friday is all about these painted jars!
What a beautiful project! I can hardly wait until friday to see how you made those jars!
ReplyDeleteWonderful. I love this no-sew idea!
ReplyDeleteI'm cutting and embellishing tons of hearts right now, to sew on a blanket. I have these cute crochet hearts too they would look gorgeous on jars. It's always fun to visit your blog, very inspirational.
Those are great! I love how colorful they are.
ReplyDeleteI also have to recommend Marion Keyes, here books are great, any of them. My favs are about the Walsh sister and This Charming Man.
SQUEEE! the hunger games! i'm so glad i read those before the movie came out! AND, i agree with you, i always hate the movies because they don't follow the books (harry potter, anyone?) but i do try to respect them at any rate. one reason i'm so excited for the hunger games movie is because the author of the book ALSO wrote the script. can't be THAT far off, right?!? we can always hope!
ReplyDeleteI am exactly the same as you about reading books before the movies. I absolutely refuse to watch a movie unless I have read the book first. Although, as much as I had pictures of Harry Potter and all his friends in my head from reading those books so many times, I can only see the movie characters now. Such is what happens when they make so many movies. If you haven't read Harry Potter (all of them) you totally should! :)
ReplyDeleteHave you heard of the Percy Jackson books by Rick Riordan? If you like the Fablehaven series or Harry Potter, you'll like those :)
ReplyDeletejames patterson books are my faves! Anything with the character of Alex Cross and also the Women's murder club.
ReplyDeleteWhat a cool idea. Ive been trying to find some time to read again. I just finished Me Before You by Jojo Moyes. It was excellent. Couldnt put it down. Im following your board for some reading inspirations
ReplyDeleteAnything James Patterson, Dean Koontz or Phil Geusz is a winner to me. If you don't mind books aimed at teens that will make you cry, check Lurlen McDaniel, very good writer.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful craft!
ReplyDeletethank you!!! from Greece
I am so doing this! Simple but such a fun, cheery result!! The canvas art is perfect with it too!
