before we begin..you are about to see an extra crapload of toys. and looking back over...my kids are getting no toys for christmas. it seems like a ton.
but everything has it's own basket or bin or box or crate. everything is organized where it should be..so when i was ready for the polly pockets i could just grab the bag and go...so it's not to crazy overwhelming to do.
and for the record...i buy a LOT of toys at the thrift store.
i took a white sheet and ACTUALLY ironed it...
and laid it on a big foam pad..(i wanted something i could move around if needs be....and sat in front of my door to get some good light....
and some of the toys tried to get escape...
and i tried to make squares when i was setting the toys out...
and some pictures are huge...like fill the whole mat...so i do some in twos...(and the whole)
and then i went to one of my favorite place paper coterie...and got it made into a book!!!
i used this book outline...i really liked all the bright colors!
i used paper coterie to add words and titles and frames...
This book is for my kids ages 8-3. so i tried to make some easy...some hard...learning ones like trying to find animals that start with the letters of the alphabet...things like that.
and the end page i just made a collage of kid pictures!
i thought i would share my pictures in case anyone wants to make one..
(please feel free to use any image you want)
you could get them printed out at walmart or walgreens and
I used picnik to add words (this was before i had decided to use paper coterie)
sidenote: i go to get the littlest pet shop and my daughter puts them away color coordinated...
and later that week she totally got mad at her sister for getting in and messing up her lps cause she could tell that they weren't exaclty how she had them...
i tried to put them back best i could.
she is too anal.
and not disney
batman is the fav around this part
i hate polly pockets. do you know how small those shoes are?
and it was right after halloween......
princess crap....
batman and his transportation....
and i guess i'm done......
go here to check out paper coterie!
That is quite possible the cutest thing I have ever seen. What a great idea and a perfect way to preserve the memory of all those loved toys when it is time to make room for new ones!

ReplyDeleteTHIS IS THE GREATEST THING >>>> I LOVE IT>> DID YOU ORDER THE BOOK ON SHUTTERFLY OR IS IT CARD STOCK
ReplyDeleteholy moly, I need to stop throwing away all those junk toys so I can do this!!
ReplyDeleteI love this! I have been contemplating doing something similar for a while but not quite as fancy as yours. It turned out so great. :)
ReplyDeleteWow -genius! But, dang, I just weeded out a bunch of happy meal and junk toys.... should have kept them for this. Bet the kids will LOVE it!
ReplyDeleteCan you say genius? This is so cool and your pictures turned out beautifully. I am SO going to make one of these for my daughter. Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteThis is splendid! And I agree with Mandy @ Sugar Bee Crafts..... Need to start hanging on to the little dinky things!
ReplyDeleteAwesome! I wanted to do this but couldn't get my pictures to look this good! You have a lot of the same toys we have too so it's PERFECT!
ReplyDeleteThis is SO STINKIN' awesome!!!
ReplyDeleteI love it.
This is one of the best things I have seen in the blogland in a long time! And how generous of you to share all of your hard work! Your kids are lucky to have you as a Mom and we are lucky to be your readers! Take care, Laura
ReplyDeleteAMAZING!!! I'm in awe by this. Wow
ReplyDeleteA-mazing! I made my kid an i-spy book but it looks quite pathetic next to your adorable creation! Thanks so much for sharing your images--definitely going to be adding this to my to-do list...but my after-Christmas to-do list lest I lose my little baby mind trying to get one more thing done. :)
ReplyDeleteMy kids are OLD, but I still have a garage full of bins of their stuff. Maybe this would be the way to make a "memory" I spy book and then get rid of the stuff!
ReplyDeleteLove this! I made one a year or so ago for my nephew but just threw a bunch of toys in the picture! Separating them into themes is so cute and such a great idea! I might have to do some new ones ;)
ReplyDeleteReally LOVE this idea! My girl would be phyched to see her toys in a book!!!
ReplyDeleteThis is an awesome idea. I don't think I have time this year, but I will have to make this for my nieces and nephew!
ReplyDeleteThat is super Awesome. I never thought about making an I spy book out of their own toys. However I agree with everyone else and yours looks way better than anything I could do. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteFabulous idea! And so colorful!!
ReplyDeleteYou rock girl!
Hugs
SueAnn
THIS is an AWESOME idea!!! Definitely would've loved this as a kiddo! :)
ReplyDeleteDo you know how obsessed with I Spy we are in this house?? Was that a sentence? This is awesomesauce.
ReplyDeleteI love it! This is an original twist on a classic kid favorite! Not only is it a fun unique gift for the kids to enjoy now, but it's also a scrapbook of the toys that shape their lives. In ten years they will look back with fond memories and laugh at how toys have changed. (Your photos spurred a memory and I'm laughing right now remembering my old-school version of My Little Pony with the strawberry scented tail)
ReplyDeleteGenius! I'm sharing on my blog.

Perfect! Thanks for all the great pictures! I'm making it this weekend!
ReplyDeleteIs there anyway you would share your higher resolution photos? I would like to use your photos, as they are gorgeous, but when I downloaded them from your site they are low resolution for a photo book...
ReplyDeleteJust thought I would ask,
Thanks for the awesome ideas!
I have uploaded them to flickr...so hopefully that helps you ladies! http://www.flickr.com/photos/kimboscrafts/
ReplyDeleteThank You So Much! That is just what I needed...and thanks for the quick response...
ReplyDeleteI appreciate all of your hard work and artistry, and so will my kids!
