omigosh. an acutal thanksgiving craft before thanksgiving.

and it's all because of my son's kindergarten teacher...

who sent home this:

a poor naked turkey.

our assignment as a family was to dress it up...

as a family.

(my craft ocd wanted me to overtake it and make it all myself so it would be awesome and i wouldn't have to compromise to the kids.)

but i acted like a good mother and didn't.

(and guess what it turned out even awesomer than expected)

and i even asked my son what colors he wanted

and he said rainbow.

{geez. he's killing me.}

the teacher sent home instructions that said, be creative. you could use macaroni or beads or feathers....

so i got to thinking...and came up with this idea.....

I started ripping out colorful pages in a few family circle magazines...

and each kid picked a color they were in charge of

and they had a square of white cardstock

and their assignment was this: cover all the white with your color...

and they made a mess....

but it involved some glue and scissors so they were content....

each square was so fun and unique...

they really did a great job....

then i took each and cut feather shapes from each color

and a body from the brown..

(and after i got the brown turkey on i thought...oh geez...we should have made a turkey dressed in camoflauge.

that would have been too funny.)

but we had all those colors...so i just glued them around the turkey!

we keep commenting on the how cute our turkey is! so fun. we might have to make a rainbow picture for our wall in the future!
