eye mask

INSPIRATION:
who doesn't love a little breakfast at tiffanys?

this is my little sister on halloween...so cute!

and I'll tell you what. I had some trouble with this stupid little eye mask.

I tried sewing it...but some of the ruffles didn't get sewn under...then I ripped my satiny fabric...and then I realized my elastic was too long. so I ripped off my elastic and said....to heck with sewing...and plugged in my lover...

oh..sorry babe. not you.

THIS LOVER

cut out the basic shape

i took a strip of fabric about 2 inches wide and ironed it in half. then I hot glued the edge of it to the edge of the mask (to the right side) just make sure to hot glue around the edge!

when that's all attached...hot glue the elastic on...(I sewed some fabric on my elastic before I vetoed the sewing machine)

then I took my top fabric and hot glued that around the edge. all the ruffle...elastic and the right sides of the fabric should all me in...(make sure to keep an opening to turn it right sides out. )

this is what mine looks like...the elastic is hanging out my opening in case you were wondering!
turn it right sides out...

then I just tucked in the excess fabric from the opening and hot glue it the edge of the ruffle.
then I took some fringe...and hot glued that crap on too.....

these remind me of this guy:

and since I HATE fighting with Martha...I made amends and made some basic eye masks...no ruffles or fanciness (nancy would be so disappointed!)

  1. I have to make some of these this week! My step dad makes appearances as Mario (from Mario Brothers) for elementary schools and for parties, and so he asked me to make him 2 eye masks to play "put the mustache on mario". I'm going to make some plain ones and use some transfer paper to put a little picture of Mario on them. You crack me up, using a glue gun, though I totally understand, sometimes the sewing machine is just too much of a pain. Reminds me of growing up, my girlfriend and I decided to make ourselves some shirts, stuck together by hot glue. Hehehehe. Good times.
