Today it was a pencil holder....something I can deliver on. (last week it was her ears peirced twice...no thank you!)
Let her pick out the fabric...there was a long line to cut fabric so i sneakily lead her to the quarters and made her pick from there.
She did pretty good.
That blue zipper later got swapped out for a white one.
I grabbed some pencils to make sure the size and cut a rectangle 12 inches by 10ish inches.
see how I measure...its an exact science.
sew up the two sides that are going to be top and bottom
turn it right side out. You are going to sew up the sides...right side out.
THan turn it so the inside is the outside and sew up the sides again. It will just make it so there are no seams.
turn right side out and pin on your zipper to the top
the zipper ends and the fabric is just open. Turn it back to wrong side out and sew the excess fabric
Hope that picture explains what I am talking about.
snip of the thread and fill with pencils
and while my sewing machine was out...and the fabric was out. I made a little coin purse for my daughter..to put her library card in and any loose change
I used velcro this time
(look, i painted my nails!!)
And then....there was still some fabric...and my kids were still being good..so I made a crayon roll too.
I still had some fabric left...man those fabric quarters can go pretty far.
So I made a crayon roll to sell on etsy. (minus the crayons--I didn't want them melting in transit!)
Go check it out!

My daughter is the same way... except she wants to save Capri Juice Pouches and make a pencil holder. I have seen people do that out in the blogosphere but I have no idea where SHE got the idea! ;)
