he got all crafty the other day and decided to make a sling shot with my son.
fun. i told him i would totally blog about it...
and then when he got it all finished...
and shot it.
i thought, "holy, this thing is deadly"
like not just put an eye out...like take you out for about 4 days laid up in the hospital.
so this is your disclaimer:
MAKE AT YOUR OWN RISK!
then you take a knife (adults only)
and shave it down....
(my son likes to match his outfit to his dad...)
then you get this tubing...i got it from my dad....but you know you got on the bandwagon and got that exercise thing that has this tubing...
so just cut that up...cause if you are like me...it's covered in dust.
it's also great for jump roping...
and this is where i was most proud of lover....
instead of just buying leather..he cut up a glove (he lost the mate a few weeks ago)
so thrifty. i'm rubbing off on the kid....and then he got a consult from the original karl.
that is 3 karls in this picture.
holy trouble.
okay. back to the slingshot...
you can learn how to do a fancy knot...
or you just electrical tape the crap out of it...
he split the tubing to get it around the end of the branch...then he took the leather..made a little slit..and ran the tubing through.
double backed it and tied it off with some more leather....
(i personally thought he should have just kept one piece of rubber and just run it behind the leather...but i don't know if that would not make it shoot correctly.)
safe. real safe....
shall we take a guess as when someone's car window will be broken....i'm going to say 3 hours. tops.
That's a great idea! A daddy project is always needed! Thanks to Karl(s) for sharing!!
ReplyDeleteUm. That looks both dangerous and awesome. What was the ammo of choice? Or is it so deadly that the type of ammo DOESN'T EVEN MATTER?
ReplyDeleteThis is great! I know my son would LOVE this.
ReplyDeleteFun!! The aim is totally off on these things but they can be dangerous. We were camping with my husbands family and my husband had brought is slingshot. One of the tweens picked it up, put a rock in it and aimed at a flying sea gull....and HIT IT!! The gull dropped to the ground and we were all shocked! My MIL was very upset but the gull sat there looking dazed and then stuck one wing out and gave it a little shake, stuck the other wing out and shook it, kinda shook its head the then flew off...thankfully!!
ReplyDeletehilarious because the other day Trevor made rubber band guns with the boys and I told him I'm definitely blogging his craftiness....
ReplyDeleteI know my girls would love it. But I am a single mom............so they always miss their dad......
ReplyDeleteStinkin' CUTE post! Your crackin' me up on the three Karl's and the being thrifty and using a glove! Too fun!
ReplyDeleteThis is perfect for my three Oscars!
