European Shoulder Bag

My sister has 3 boys. So when I went to visit her I had to bring some girl toys: babies, necklaces, purses-- you know the usual. My nephew loved the purse. A pink princess purse. He carried it around all the time. Now, normally, I prefer to make girl stuff--it's just cuter and girls appreciate it more......but just that image of my cute nephew with a cinderella bag on his arm......something had to be done.

a pair of cargo pants that were in my D.I. pile.

The side pocket that is going to be the front of my manly bag.

Inside out. Pinned the bottom.

Cut off the bottom hem of the pants. That will be my flap.

pinned it up

Cut out a strip of pants for the strap.

Folded it in half and sewed up the side. Turned it right side out and ironed it flat with the seam down the middle.
sewed it to the sides.

Now, although this is a boy purse....I had to add some fun details.

Drew out a design and cut it out

Sewed it to another fabric and then wonder undered it to my bag
Added some red to the underneath of my flap.
Added some buttons...(I'm a girl...it might be a boy purse but it can still be as cute as possible.)
Fill with superheros, dirt, bouncy balls, and maybe a frog.
The boy got to eat the rest of his peeps for posing for me.
